reduced water spills by at least 90%
We have two dogs. A chiweenie who doesnt have a problem drinking water and a 2 yr old Ridgeback who has a drinking problem. As i like to say he tends to want to take some in reserve for later after he drinks but he doesnt know how to keep it in the reserve tank. When we moved into our new house that had hardwood floors it was quite the exercise to constantly mop up water trails as he would leave the bowl. A solution had to be tried. The first day we got it. The little one didnt have a problem figuring it out but the big ridgeback wasnt quite sure because he couldnt see the water. After a few trips by the little guy the big guy gave it a shot. it worked perfectly. He was able to drink it without any problems and there was no water trail a detective could follow to the scene of the crime. Now there are only a handful of times that we will find a few drops after he drinks, but that is mostly when the bowl is completely full.It is an easy setup. You just fill the bowl up with water and the white area has an arena like inverse dome to it with a hole in the middle. When you fill up the water it raises to the top and fills the white container as the dogs go to drink they apply light pressure to the white container and water starts to come up through the center hole.I just wish it was bigger so i didnt have to fill it up so often. Two dogs go through it pretty quick.

Toxic plastic bowl will send more water on your floor if your dog has half a brain.
First of all right out of the box there was a terrible toxic smell. In fact, I could smell it through the Amazon box! The design of this bowl couldn't be worse. The plastic floater that is supposed to inhibit gulping water takes in water itself. I can only imagine the slime and mold that will eventually grow inside this piece as it comes in contact with dog slobber and floats in a bowl filled with doggy water. Using a dishwasher to clean the bowl is not recommended. My 13 year old noticed the other main design flaw immediately before we even set it up. "What happens if she puts her paw in the bowl looking for the water?" Well, I'm sure you can imagine exactly what happens. A mini geyser of water shoots out of the bowl soaking the floor more extensively than your dog's slobbery chinny chin chin. So I am returning this bowl and will go back to using this jumbo sized dish matt (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009Q2XTEW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) under her food and water bowls and occasionally wiping up the drips.

Not less mess enough for my pup
Although the dog bowl is "less mess", it is no where near less mess enough for my dog. I have a german shepard/weimaraner mix & a scottish fox terrier mix. My terrier has no problem with spilling while drinking, but my shepard leaves so much water all over the floor. I was hoping that this bowl would work, but sadly it does not.Although it is not less mess enough for my dog, the product would be really good for dogs that don't have THAT much spilling while drinking. Both of my dogs had no trouble learning to drink from it - they both had it mastered after me showing them how to use it one time. The other complaint is it is too small for my shepard that drinks a ton. Between my two dogs, they had the bowl emptied in about 3 hours. If your dog doesnt drink very much at a time and has only a slight dribble, then you will probably enjoy this product.

It really works!
The problem:So my frenhie is 5 years old and lately he's been regurgitating more water/food. The vet suggest that we get him a slow feeder. That didn't work as he would just flip his bowl over constantly to get the food. After watching him eat and drink for a few days it hit me! Why not try a slow water bowl as it seems to happen when he gulps his water after eating. We have this water bowl for a month and it really does work. There's almost zero to little regurgitation. The item:The bowl comes in 3 pieces. The base, the bowl and a plastic disc. You put water in the bowl and put the hallow plastic disc on top. There is a tiny hole in the disc that lets water up as the dog pushes down when he drinks the water. This essentially lets only a small amount of water flow through for him to drink which minimizes large gulps of air/water. There is also tiny hole on the side with a small rubber pin. I have no idea what it is for though. Kind of annoying because it's not a tight pin so water gets inside of the plastic disc and takes a while for it to completely dry out. Don't want mold growing in that thing. Otherwise really a great product!
