Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: The Herschel 400 Observing Guide is an excellent resource. Most helpful is that this guide provides a photograph of each object the amateur is trying to find. As someone who uses strictly star hopping methods when searching for an object, having the ability to visually confirm a sighting is a tremendous benefit in the field. The descriptions and the directions for finding these objects are also very good. Bottom line: this is a thorough and practical guide to the Herschel 400 objects.

What to say? Another perfect hit from Mr O'Meara. The book is perfectly organised, first giving the reader a bit of information about the Herschels (just enough to whet your appetite and stimulate you to google a lot more), then about the birth of the list. Then the reader is given a few background parameters to help in the choice of instrument to use. Then the long list of maps and star hopping charts begins. They are arranged by month, each month has 7 lists of objects, the number of nights you should dedicate to the endeavour if you want to complete the H400 in one year. I still have to complete my Messier list, but the next challenge I want to undertake is the Herschel 400. Can't wait...

Imprescindible.
