USB hub works but not luck with UART...
Update: after pretty much giving up on this thing, I unscrewed it from the Pi Zero W and noticed there were a couple tiny UART RXD TXD switches on the board, set to the OFF position. I figured what the heck, I'll try switching them ON and see what happens. Low and behold, I get boot messages. I don't recall seeing any mention of these in the documentation. So here's what I did to get it to work:1. Switch UART RXD TXD switches to ON position.2. Attach to the Pi Zero W.3. Plug provided USB cable into mini USB port labeled UART.4. Plug other end of USB into the Mac.5. Open a Terminal and type the following command: screen /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART 1152006. You should see boot messages scrolling past on your terminal. If you do not, it is possible that the boot process has already finished and is waiting for login. In that case, try typing your credentials and see if it logs you in.Still rating 3-stars for lack of documentation and missing screws.-TN====================================================USB hub seems to function ok. Mine didn’t come with enough screws to attach it securely to the Pi Zero W, so seemed a little on the flimsy side. I also tried for a couple weeks to get the UART to connect on OSX Catalina, but no joy. That was a big factor for me purchasing this model, so disappointing. I ended up giving up and purchasing a separate UART cable.

Worked fine but...
Solved my problem to too few ports on my RPi4, but installation with a USB cable was awkward and it did cause the Pi to hang on reboot. I replaced it with an RPi4 specific unit. Probably is great on a PiZero, but it's not right on a RPi4 as advertised.

Tolerance buildup problem with this
The small USB-micro bridge that connects the USB hat to the Raspberry Pi Zero is a little short of being perfectlyaligned with the height of the 40-pin GPIO connector on the opposite side of the Zero. It can be made to fit, but I really don't like having to force something together, when the Design Engineer neglected to check for proper fit of all components.

It is perfect!
Tried the Zero4U. That did not work. This one did worked like a charm! It lights up when a USB device is connected. Very cool. It even has UART, but I haven't tried it yet. The perfect accessory for your Pi Zero or Pi Zero W. Now if only there was a case/enclosure made for this.

Unhappy marriage
Doesn't fit. 3 separate Pi Zeros and 2 of these hub hats - none of them fit. The micro usb to micro usb connector is too short. I know it's not my soldering as I got one of the Pi Zeros from Raspberry fully assembled. Finally got the hat onto the Pi, but it's putting a fair bit of strain on the GPIO pins. The spacers provided would make it impossible to fit the micro to micro adapter, if anyone was interested.I'll try some sandpaper on the plastic GPIO connector and see if that straightens things out...
