It's plasticized board with magnetic closures. I like it and matches my new marble vanity.

What are the exact dimensions? People have different ideas of what "standard" means. And the product description gives different information.

Standard box of tissues not sure of size but I do know the tissues have to come out on the top so no Puffs brands

can this be spray painted?

Of course it can! I would sand it lightly, then spray paint away! Some good paints are the 2X spray paint from Home Depot - oil enamel, clean up with Mineral Spirits/ Paint Thinner. Another excellent paint is the Montana Gold brand of spray cans. Only get exactly this brand, not Montana Black or other. These are specialty artist paints which are Nitro Acrylic and clean up with Acetone not water like most acrylics. MB paints do not fade, have strong adhesion, a very fine spray mist, and the most gorgeous colors including metallics. Remove the spray nozzle, lift off the washer, put nozzle back on. Washer is the safety 'cap' for this paint. It does not come with caps. Try it, you will love it. Amazon sells it, but to check online for the full color chart of paints available before you buy. They also make Transparents for glass, to make it look like stained glass.

Great Product!

This is a great little addition to any room. Personally, I dislike the look of regular tissue boxes, and the designs almost never match/go with anything. To me, it just gives simple objects a little upgrade. This product looks sleek and fits a standard tissue box easily. It was very easy to assemble and the sticky tabs used to hold it in place are incredibly strong. Great value for your money and would definitely recommend!

for alternative purpose

The boxes are easy to open and close and have held up well in a large work setting - I used them to dispense bulk paper towels, as the size was right.
