Beautiful board
After ordering and returning several boards from other sellers due to poor craftsmanship and/or poor packaging, I was happy to see that this board was packaged correctly. Upon opening, it was easy to see why. The craftsmanship shows. The layout, design, and assembly were clearly considered carefully and the glue up looks to have been done very well. Except for one very tiny (1 mm) defect in the grain, the board is quite nearly flawless. Zero defects in craftsmanship. In a perfect world, it would have been sanded just a little bit more, as the end grain still has a directional quality to it and can be felt when passing in one direction. Not enough to be an issue, mind you, just a preference. I would like to see a 2" version.

Glad I took the gamble
This board exceeded my expectations. Its not sanded smooth so has the perfect grip for my knife while chopping. It comes pre-oiled, but I did add a bit of a beeswax/mineral oil mix. With the added oil it cleans up beautifully. I just wipe the moisture off when I'm done chopping veggies or spray it with a bit of sal suds dilution for a bigger mess. I opted for the 1.5 inch thickness so its not too heavy that I can't maneuver it into the sink for a more thorough cleaning.I'm very please with its beauty, quality and function. I've only had it for a few weeks, but I hope it last. This is by far the most reasonably priced board for its size. If you are on the fence about buying because there aren't enough reviews as I was take the leap you won't regret it.

Not worth the price!
Very difficult to clean...soaks up everything immediately despite properly preparing board with oil & beeswax. An expensive board I gave away. Save your money!

Remember to follow directions how to preserve your board.
The board is a representation of beautiful and high quality craftsmanship. Besides practical side of using for food preparation, it is so presentable that food can be served directly from the board. Unbelievably sturdy and if well treated with mineral oil, can last forever. The manufacturer also gives free lifetime resurfacing. Wonderful gift for any occasion. It is handcrafted raw wood that needs to be occasionally fed with mineral oil. Any customers who complained did not treat their board properly.
