Solid, fit is a little goofy
I have a very average head and this sweet beanie swallows it completely. I considered returning it but I just flip the bottom of the hat up a little and it fits fine.Other than that, great quality merino, as expected. Perfect for cool Tahoe mornings and easily stowable when it warms up.

Thin, lightweight, warm, breathable...
Thin, lightweight, warm, breathable, stretchy enough to fit my almost size eight noggin, great price from amazon, I like this beanie so much I bought another one. This Winter I'm using merino lightweight gloves, beanies and a 200 weight long sleeve tee and so far I'm happy with Icebreaker. I'll see if my opinion changes after the real cold of the first three months of 2013 or if any product flaws develop with use.============Update 10 May 2013Wound up buying three of these merino beanies, one blue, one black, and one sort of a faded looking black color. One was for my wife but I wound up with it. Funny thing is all three right out of the box were slightly different sizes, not a lot different because all fit me but noticeable. After sleeping with one on my head for a week or so, the merino does pick up odors and needs IMO frequent washings. Beanie rolls up small enough I can keep one handy in a jacket pocket, and considering how thin the wool is it's warm and doesn't soak up light snow or drizzle.All-in-all, this was the winter I discovered the comfort and warmth of Merino wool.

A most excellent purchase!
I was looking for a wool beanie on the thinner side to fit under my respirator and welding helmet. Being a welder, I don't like wearing synthetic materials as they tend to burn and stick to you from the sparks and molten metal from cutting, welding and grinding metal. When it arrived, I found that it was indeed thin material and was worried at first it wouldn't be warm enough, as I work in mostly unheated spaces. Wearing it proved it to be warm enough, though! It wasn't so thick as to be bulky along with everything else strapped to my cranium, but it provided a surprising amount of warmth. It has also proven to be quite durable, with even the thinest parts of it only developing a few very small pin-holes. I absolutely love the slightly thicker "head band" around the base/opening of the hat. I especially liked that I got it while it was on sale, as Icebreaker products tend to be on the higher end of what I would normally like to pay for something, but, even at full price it would have been just the right thing for me and my situation.

Long-sleeves for your head
Really nice for those days when it's windy, chilly or both. Being a single-layer 200 gm/m^2 wool, it's not going to keep you wam in real low temps, but I suspect Icebreaker didn't intend it for that. I like it for crisp morning summer season alpine starts and those windy 14er summits. It's also great to sleep in for just a little extra warmth. Would probably be good for cold morning runs.At 0.9oz there's really no reason to not have it in a pocket or pack every time out.If a microfleece or knit beanie is a "jacket for your head" the chase is "long sleeves", or maybe a "light sweatshirt". It fills a niche between a headband and a real cold weather hat.

I wore this thing in the mountains and when I went skiing. It was totally worth it. I wish they made gloves as well.

nice
Even though the cap is a little too long, it's perfect for wearing under the motorcycle helmet. Material is thin, but comfortable and breathes.

Warmmmmmmmm!
Great product. I have used the beanie for running, under my motorcycle and bicycle helmet, and under my hardhat when I'm working on deep sea ships. My only complaint, like others, is the length of the hat. I have a pretty big head and it's long on me. Otherwise, it's excellent in cutting down wind, retaining heat, and looking tough!

icebreaker beanie
although I was expecting a thicker hat for the money, I have warn it several times with a hat on top or on its own as the weather has been so cold. It fits well around the ears and I can easily put it in my pocket as an emergency. I will also use it under my bike helmet when very cold too so all round a good buy.

Merino Deluxe
