Just do yourself a favor for once and buy it!
If you have not played this game, do yourself a favor and just buy it! It's cheap and just so much fun. While it is a light card game, it's one of Reiner Knizia's best in my opinion. There is a good deal of tension and worry (which is good), especially when you send out a merchant ship with the hopes of other pirates not attacking it. When do you send out your valuable ships? Your lower valued ones? When do you attack and when do you just let the battle end? How long do you build your pirate fleet before attacking? There is great player interaction, and I love the "trash talking" that can come about when playing this game. I must admit that I did not care for the cartoony artwork in the previous edition, but the new art and tin case are very nice. So if you're looking for a light and really fun card game for a great price, just buy it! You won't regret it!

SUCKS! Not Well Thought Out! Poor instructions!
If we are playing this game right and I believe we are this game SUCKS! It seems similar to the game Cover Your Assets but the difference is clear. The instructions for that game are clear and simple and very fun to play plus you only ever have four cards in your hand. This game is not well thought out and you can have a card full of hands and still have no good cards. Unfortunately, my family is not a fan of this game. Buy Cover Your Assets instead.

Moderately entertaining but not challenging at all.
I purchased this game because I enjoyed other Gamewright games. I played it with my 10 yo and my husband. My 10yo loved it. She wanted to play again immediately. I thought that it was fun but it is not something that I wanted to play again right away. I enjoyed Trash Pandas way more as I find it much more amusing. For a random chance game, it is not my favorite one. I would play it again but sporadically. It will appear when we have limited time only. If you want a game that involves strategy and random chance, I would recommend other games before I would recommend this one.

Great family game
We play many games as a family but this one has become a quick favorite. The cards are quality and will not be torn easily. It takes about 10 minutes per game and after one game, anyone/everyone can learn to play. We've only recently started playing teams and that adds quite the level of complexity. Played with ages anywhere from 6-60 and all have enjoyed it and understood. Great game for the family.

Excellent Game for All Ages
I bought this game to be able to play with my 6 year old niece and because I needed something that wont be boring filler at game night. This caught my eye because of the nautical pirate theme and the low price and I do not regret buying this for one second. The game is just fun to play. There is a decent amount of strategy involved to keep older and younger players interested alike. The feeling when someone slaps a pirate captain down on your 8 coin merchant ship only for you to slap an admiral down in their face is exhilarating. And because your merchant cards are kept hidden until the end, you get that feeling of uncertainty that fuels your need to take more merchant ships no matter what. The card stock is also EXCELLENT quality I was extremely impressed with the quality of cards received for the price. I've played this game loads of times since I bought it and they still look and feel great. The tin also gives me piece of mind so that I can just shove it in my bag and take the game anywhere, ensured that no card warping or box damage is going to happen.I give this game 4 stars for being extremely easy to learn It is easy enough that after a brief run down of the basic rules, a new player is still able to pick it up and destroy everyone else at the table. However -1 star as the nature of the game is that you are put at the mercy of the deck and getting a handful of merchant ships with no pirate cards to back yourself up is no fun.Honestly this is one of the better card game purchases I have made, and while the concept is rather simple I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it feels to play. Makes an excellent gift for someone who you are trying to introduce to tabletop games as well.

Fun little card game with good strategy
This is a fun card game with a neat concept. It does take a couple of plays to get the hang of the strategy, but once you understand it, it's really fun. It's one of those "gateway" games that you can teach to people who like card games but don't have much exposure to the more recent hobby games, and they'll probably enjoy it enough to want to buy it themselves. Also, it's small so easy to travel with and this version with the tin has good artwork. I'm not a huge fan of the tin itself. It opens too easily on the shelf, as all tins seem to do. But other than that, great game.

Buy this game for a great family time game!
My family is a Gamewright family...we have so many Gamewright games....but the other night we could not decide on a game so we didn’t play anything. That made me start looking for a new game. I stumbled upon LOOT. I read the instructions (posted on line) and it sounded fun so I ordered it.BUY THIS GAME. It was fun, simple, fast paced, and an absolute blast to play! We started talking like pirates as we played (just being caught up in the moment) and we played way too late but could not stop! If you are looking for a deep strategic game...probably not what you are looking for...but a simple kick in the pants type of fun...this is it! My daughter is 6...she picked up very quickly and won the first time we played. Great family time game that the young ones can play! Great job Gamewright!

Fun will be your bag of loot
My son (5) really enjoys playing this card game, he loves all things pirate. Took him a few rounds to get the hang of it, actually myself as well, but its pretty simple and easy to teach. Rules aren't written the clearest, watch the how to videos on youtube.

Nice little game in a tin.
Nice little game . The tin makes it very portable but you need a reasonable sized playing surface as the battles are all laid out separately.Basically you battle to win ships. An element of luck involved but enough strategy to keep it interesting. It's fun to see who the risk takers are and who plays it safe.We played it with 2 adults and 2 kids (13 and 10) . At first it seems complicated but in fact it's very easy to learn and you could play it with younger children as long as you scaffold a fair bit on.the first few goes.As with all Game Wright games the art work is pleasing and the tin is well made. It's not as good as Gubs which is our absolute favourite to travel with but it's good enough to make a few more journeys. Just make sure you get a table if you want to play it on the train as it does spread out more than most small tin games.Interestly, we discovered that it can be played in near silence when we found ourselves in the quiet carriage on a journey back from London and did just that!

Not as good as expected.
Our family loves ‘Gubs’ and decided to add to the Gamewright collection by purchasing ‘Loot’.We had high expectations that it would be on par with ‘Gubs’ but unfortunately, we found it quite boring.
