Wisdom Panel Essential: Fundamental Dog DNA Test for Ancestry, Breed and Medical Traits/Conditions - 2 Pack

Super pleased with this DNA kit. I feel like it accurately told me what my dog is.Some backstory:We got my pup from a neighbor and were told she was a “shih tzu”.. But her mom did not look like a shih tzu at all lol. When we questioned my neighbor, she explained her dog (possibly some kind of hound mix) accidentally got out and she believed her dog got pregnant by a dog that would roam around the neighborhood. (who looked like a shih tzu and identical to what my dog looks like now.) We went with it because that was the only thing we had to go off of… plus she was super tiny. (see pics) But as she got older, she obviously got bigger then a shih tzu lol.Getting these results, (which took about 2 weeks after sending it off) finally confirmed she is actually some kind of shih tzu lol We always had a feeling our dog had some kind of beagle in her because of her tendencies to sniff and hunt / bark (plus we were told her mom might be a hound mix)The chihuahua was a surprise but after reading more about chihuahuas. I definitely see the similarities.

In January I rescued Molly who was found as a stray from a shelter in Northeast Ohio. All of the paperwork on her listed her a as a terrier with no specific breed type. I wanted to know her breed information so I initially went with Embark DNA Dog Testing. Several weeks “after” Embark lost my dogs DNA sample and blamed it on the post office, even though Embark e-mailed me and Molly's profile page on their website posted that the DNA test was received, I requested a refund and went with Wisdom Panel. I received the Wisdom test kit on 04/01, swabbed Molly & returned the kit via USPS on 04/01, the kit was received by Wisdom Panel 4/04 at which time I was notified that the testing had begun and that the results will be available in approx. 2 to 3 weeks. Today 04/22, 2 ½ weeks later, the results are in.As I did with Embark, with Wisdom I purposely did not include a photo or complete the questionnaire about Molly’s behavior & characteristics on their websites. I wanted to make sure that the test results would not be skewed or biased, I wanted the results to be based solely on the DNA results.I am pleasantly happy with the results. My little Molly girl is a mixture of 10 breeds, 55% Yorkshire Terrier, 10% Chihuahua, 9% Parson Russell Terrier, 8% Russell Terrier 6%, Silky Terrier, 4%, Smooth Fox Terrier, 4% Wire Fox Terrier, 2% German Hunting Terrier, 1% Toy Fox Terrier, 1% Lancashire Heeler.The 10% Chihuahua threw me for a loop but, every other breed identification is everything else Terrier ... which is exactly what I expected. I am convinced of the accuracy of the Wisdom Panel test results. I truly thought that Molly was an Irish/Norfolk Terrier mix but, Yorkshire Terrier mixed with 8 out of 10 terrier breeds is quite alright. The test was accurate on her coat color, fur type-length-texture, eye color, body shape, head shape, snout length, size/weight. Now I can update the Wisdom website with Molly’s photo and answer the questionnaire.The only negative is Molly hated the swab retrieval process but she is small enough to hold and get the sample needed. I highly recommend Wisdom Panel. I am 100% satisfied with the results.

Super impressed with the whole process and the results! We got what we were told was a German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix about 2yrs ago by a friend of a friend of a friend. Not a real legit source. We were also told he was an accidental pregnancy and the owner was basically giving the puppies away. He seems to have the mannerisms of both German and Pittie but we wanted to know for sure. Based on reviews and price, we went with the Wisdom Panel. The kit came quickly and instructions were easy to follow. My dog loves when his teeth are brushed so he did amazing with the swab. Swabbed a little extra since he let me. Activated the kit online and did not initially post a pic like some reviews mentioned, to guarantee accuracy. And the results came in two weeks, as promised! So happy to know that we got the German Pittie we hoped for! I’ve only ever owned Pitties so this really helped me understand the German side of him, and much to my surprise- Staffy, Boxer and Chow. So happy we did this!

My dog Thatcher, was rescued at 9.5 weeks old. We were told he was a “lab mix” and when we took him to the vet the vet told me he was most likely part Chesapeake bay retriever, because his coat is wavy and coarse, not like a lab. Also, as he got older, his 1 ear stood up out of nowhere and it’s been like this ever since. Not like a lab or Chesapeake. He also howls which I think is very cool, and is very “talkative” and mouthy, much like a husky. I always suspected, lab, chessie and husky for sure! It’s very cool to have the test identify breeds I’ve for sure seen/noticed in Thatcher! Worth the money.😄

I wanted to know what breed my dog was, she is so unique and I could only take a guess as to what she was. Ordered the test, it was super easy to use, and we got results back very quickly! turns out it took 15 breeds to make the perfect dog!! I was so happy with the results that I ordered another kit for my other dog.
