Update 2: it seems I was wrong about this! I originally complained about the placement of the power switch on this scale (it's on the bottom). What I did not realize at first is that you can easily turn it on by pressing on down the front edge of the top! I do not know if this is intentional, but it works perfectly. Since that was the only thing bothering me, I've changed my rating to 5 stars.Update: Wacaco contacted me and offered to ship a replacement, which they did - outstanding customer support! The new one does work. There is only one thing I wish they'd fix: accorging to Wacaco support, the battery level indicator does nothing. This should be in the description, if not simply removed from the screen. Other than that it's a nice accurate little coffee scale...Original review: I got one with the same problem as others have described. Timer quits randomly. Battery level display is wrong. Changed batteries, tested them and they are good. Contacted Wacaco and they said talk to Amazon. Guess they don't care. So back it goes..

Excellent scale response time and fits perfectly underneath my Flair Neo Flex

Looking to weigh coffee for my espresso machine. I started out with one of the sub-$20 scales that are ubitquitous on Amazon. The scale seemed ok at first, but checking items against my regular kitchen scale (which is consistent if not at the sub-gram level that I need for espresso shots), even the kitchen scale weighing the same items showed the cheap coffee scale was inconsistent / non-accurate. Reading reviews for this scale looked promising. Overall the reviews proved true and I'm satisfied with this scale. Is it perfect? No. Weird buttons and a readable but dim display bother me from time to time. But it does seem to be consistent and accurate. And at this point, that's what counts most.

Extremely inaccurate, and has a ton of drift. I put a 30g weight directly in the middle of the scale, and it read 7.4g. Not even close. Also, if you zero something out (a small cup for weighing beans, for example), then just let it sit there, it will slowly creep up in weight all by itself! After about a minute of just letting it sit, it went from 0.00 (after hitting TARE) to over 40g...all by itself.

It is fast enough for the application. Easy to use and love the size of this scale. No issues with my unit. If you are looking for a scale to use with a lever or pump espresso maker, this is a good option

Muy exacta, realmente la medida de peso es perfecta, hasta el microscópico peso lo tiene en cuenta. Acabados premium , personalidad de wacaco. Seria chévere que en próximas ediciones ya no sea necesario el utilizar baterías AAA , si no, que ya pueda venir con puerto tipo C para cargas.

Update 1This morning the timer paused itself. I wasn't touching the scale, just had my Aeropress on it while stirring hot water I had just poured (inverted). The timer paused and I could not get it to continue. I had to turn the power off and back on, then it worked fine again. I really can't believe this is a Wacaco product. Kinda makes me sad :(Update 2Per Pablo Golcher's review here I went ahead and checked the batteries. Pulled them out, re-seated them, same issues with accuracy. I grabbed a pack from a different brand and tried those. The behavior is the same. (If you reverse 1 or both, the scale will not turn on. I knew this, I tried anyways just to see). Anyhow, the batteries / battery placement are not the issue with the scale I received.On a brighter note, I haven't had any issues with the timer again (even before all this battery silliness). I also just received another scale (Weightman Small Coffee Scale with Timer) and tested it. It, too, is really bad. Way worse than this one. It decreases by .1 grams every second or two after it sits idle for a few seconds, like a count-down, lol. Guess I'm not meant to have a proper scale. Anyhow, of all the inexpensive mini scales with a timer I have tried, the Wacaco is the best, but its not very good.----------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW (had 3 stars)----------------------I'd give it 2.5 Stars if I could.This scale is simply not accurate. I have two other scales (a large kitchen scale and a Greater Goods pocket scale without a timer). I also have a scale calibration set that measures from 5g up to 100g. My other scales are accurate and it doesn't matter where you place the weights or how many times you lift and replace the weights, they show the same reading.This scale can be off by as much as 0.3 grams depending on where you place the weight as well as how many time you lift and replace it. If you place the weight in the center, the reading is between 0.0 and 0.1 grams heavy. At the top of the platform the reading is always 0.2 grams heavy. The bottom reads 0.0 to 0.1 grams light. If you place a weight in the center of the scale and lift it, then replace it several times, you will get a weight reading that's off by 0.0 to 0.2 each time you repeat. This goes up and down each time the weight is replaced.I looked over the instructions but did not see a way to calibrate the scale. Maybe I missed something.The Wacaco scale is pretty slow to "settle". This means that while you are pouring your beans or water or whatever, you have to pause a second several times to allow the scale to catch up. Its not a deal breaker, but its pretty irritating, especially considering my $12 Greater Goods scale is nearly instantaneous. I might just buy a cheap timer and keep using the Gg scale though, I dunno. I'd really rather have it all in one unit for convenience. Also, the Gg scale orientation is 90 degrees off.I DO like the buttons on the top of the scale. The Timer button is multi-functional: press to start/stop timer, long-press to reset timer, double-tap to change between grams and ounces. The Tare button does only that - zeroes the scale.I DO NOT like the Power button on the bottom, its just not very convenient. However, thanks to Mc's review here, I learned that I can just press the Wacaco logo on the top front to tilt the scale enough to engage the power button. This *mostly* works for me.I have tried many other pocket scales "designed for espresso", but every one of them has failed with accuracy, some being off by as much as 1 full gram. Almost all of them display the strange behavior of a different reading when an object is lifted and replaced multiple times. Some even perpetually increased by 0.1 gram each time (one I quit testing when it reached 2 full grams). Almost all of them, this one included, drift a decent amount the longer they stay on. I *have not* tried either of the Acaia mini scales, and I probably won't as the pricing on those is absolutely absurd at $250 and $270 US.BOTTOM LINEI haven't decided if I'm going to keep this scale or not. Its just barely good enough to 'ballpark' a daily pour-over, drip, press, etc, and having a timer on the scale is a big bonus for convenience. However, this scale is simply not accurate enough for dialing in a new recipe or bean, specifically espresso. I just hate the idea of rewarding a company for a faulty product. When a purchase like this is kept, all the manufacturer sees is "another satisfied customer, keep doing what we're doing". I'm just tired of hunting that unicorn of an espresso scale (accuracy, price, performance).
