Sometimes The Best Solution Is A Bit Low Tech
I got this GPS for my delivery job even through our company phones have GPS. For me the problem has to do with is having to look down at a small screen with a turn coming just 5ft away. this was nerve racking and doesn't make for safe driving. This Tom-tom allows me to see the turn coming without having to break my neck or worst. it can be mounted on the window or dash broad at eye level. In short it's a simple GPS with a big screen. Tom-tom's interface has always been easy to use especially when on the move. The Icons and text are big and easy to read and understand though I will admit, the touch screen does lagged compared to the ones on a smart phone especially when "typing" in an address. If you have a pen or stylist it helps with this and once the address is entered, you're off on the road. I would recommend you buy a 4gb micro SD Card. This provides more storage for maps and voices but mostly it will speeds up the GPS immensely. If you do regular routes like I do, you can program those stops so that you don't have to keep selecting them after you finish one. On that note however, as with any GPS's, it's not perfect and there will be times where it will direct you to roads that are either blocked, one ways, under construction, or any not there at all. Highways are always under construction so do pay attention to the signs and detours that are provided. Another issue is the "Fastest Route Debate" which I often find myself fighting with it on. A good example of this is in small towns where it will have insist on cutting through neighborhoods in order to get to a main road when really you can stay on the main roads and get there just as quick or quicker depending on traffic. You don't have to get the traffic receiver for the GPS to work but if your area is always jammed with traffic it will help you navigate around them.Truth of the matter is that todays Smart phones do this GPS's job a lot better and are more accurate in traffic conditions, road changes, and even where the cops are. But all those features use data and battery which if either one of those runs out, you could find yourself lost and having to make a VERY long drive back home. So if you want to save battery and data and have a big screen to let you know when the turns and exits are coming, get Tom-tom

Excellent Low End Navigation Device.
I have been immensely pleased with the TomTom 1525M that I purchased. I bought this as a replacement for a seven year old TomTom that quit working. I've found the 1525M to be much easier to program than my earlier device and it provides me with more information on the screen than the earlier model did (distance to my destination, distance to the next turn, estimated time of arrival, etc.). In fact, I would say this navigation device is very easy to use (though it got a lot easier after I took the time to read the User's Manual online). I miss the "Via" command to travel by way of a specified city and the "Find Alternate Route" when I preferred something other than the TomTom's first choice. This model also has a higher volume setting than my old one and that's a big improvement and a brighter screen. I found the touch screen to be sufficiently responsive. There may be better ones on higher priced models but this works just fine for me.On the downside, I found the process of downloading my own POI OV2 files to be poorly documented. I've managed to download thousands of locations of Walmarts, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops, national forest campgrounds, fishing holes, etc. but it was a struggle to figure out how. It wouldn't be too difficult for TomTom to di a better job documenting how to do that. It would also be helpful if TomTom provided software to convert CSV files to OV2, perhaps through MyDrive or MyDrive Connect. I found independent websites to convert my files but they were all from unknown sources; working with trusted TomTom would have been better. My model does not have the speed camera warnings or programming by spoken commands so I can't comment on those features on other 1525 models.

Oh Tom Tom
This is a good GPS but you may have some difficulty operating this one. It’s my 2nd TomTom. The first one was great, older and much more simple to operate. I don’t know about you but the best GPS I use is to get me to my destination and nothing more, quickly and the best route. Sometimes the human equation factors in here. This thing can’t think logically like we do and can throw you off a little when it tries to get me to grandmas, my route is better and faster, it may take in traffic factors, I just don’t know! Bottom line, this one is OK, but nothing like my old one that was stolen, don’t you just love our justice system. Where’s Brandon!! The touch screen is hard to finger touch too. I do like it, just not so many bells and whistles. People that designed these things try to cram everything known to man about geography. Sell me something to get me to point A From B, that’s all. The older version of TomTom was great. It would b like comparing an older TV to a newer wall mounted TV that you talk to. Where’s George Jetson!!

A working GPS
Ordered the GPS, arrived a day ahead of schedule. Box had everything it was supposed to have and the unit had enough battery power to start right up out of the box. The first thing I did was hook it up to my TomTom account for updates, which took a number of hours. New software and map updates were installed, after which the unit was fully charged and tested for functionality. Features I love is the big screen, the right brightness and control of it as well as the amount of screen use for each function. It takes getting used to as the interaction with the GPS is different from my other older model, but that is called progress. After reading the manual and tapping away on the GPS I was quickly able to create routes, store routes and modify routes as well as search for POIs by name and category. The ability to create a route on your laptop and send it to the GPS via USB is a great feature in addition to being able to create my own POIs and mark points along the way. I am not sure who still navigates to a LAT and LONG so I do not see the usefulness of that for my purposes, but it is there for you.The mount is basic as they are with all other GPS units and it sticks relatively well on clean glass or the mounting disk. Took a bit to figure out I could swap the mounting ball for a dash mount. The on-line downloadable manual is actually pretty good. But you have to read it first. Charging was effortless and quick. No complaints so far. 5 stars for delivery and quality, 4 for battery life and ease of use. 3 only for Touch screen because with a long route and way points the scrolling function seems to get a little stuttered. i do like the double tap to zoom, however, the long tap to access menus sometimes refuses to cooperate. In short, the touch screen could still use some improvement or the underlying processors need some upgrading.Overall, good unit, reasonably priced.

My co pilot
I find this to be necessary for the work my service tech does on a daily basis. I have used tom tom for years now, and bought this as a replacement for a very old unit. The only issue is, even with complete updates, the unit seems to send my tech to wrong addresses from time to time. Even after a confirmed entered address the unit seems to re adjust and re calculate routes they did not plan. We are in a major city, and the map seems very fleshed out. The gps in this unit is another must for my tech. Very happy overall with this product over time. Decent value at the current price point.

Dated points of interest.
Basically the GPS operates as it should. I like the view of the road while navigating, in particular the lane choice. I wasn't getting the verbal instructions even though I had chosen a voice but that's probably part of my learning curve. I was curious why TomTom sells maps even though the unit has free map updates. On her maiden voyage we chose to navigate to Canadian Tire using the POI. The location it provided was from years ago, the store having long since moved. A little disappointing. I'm guessing that buying a map (and they're not cheap!) provides updated POI. Hopefully this weak point doesn't bite me in the ass in the future.

Just a gps i bought. wanted a different one.
Only had this for a bit. Kinda weird to set up the fav's. I am just good at figuring that stuff out.IDK if i can change the icon on the GPS. Like change the pointer to a car or something cool like my garmin. Just hope it brings me to the right spot.Had a garmin. Was pretty good actually. Just wanted something different.Using a phone i find is better. But just something in the car just in case im lost with only that. And i can see the road.

2nd Purchase of this GPS
This is the 2nd time I have bought a TomTom VIA model. After my first one "died" after many years of use, I purchased another well-known brand to replace it but I was not as satisfied with it. So going back to a TomTom model was an easy choice. So far so good.
