Worth it
This thing works. I was using s filter every year. At $200 it adds up. This takes the majority of debris and is easy to empty

Big improvement on older garbage-can lid dust separator
I've used a centrifugal separator lid on a garbage can for years to create a 2-stage dust separation system driven by a Grizzly blower. I decided this Oneida unit might outperform it because most fine dust and about 50% of total dust I generated got through to the second stage bag on my old system. You can see my new setup in the first photo and the garbage-can lid that's now out of a job in the second photo. With the new system, only a small fraction of dust makes it through to the Grizzly bag of the second stage (maybe 10%) and much of the fine dust stays in the Oneida cardboard drum you can see. I bought the separator and the drum as a package so I wouldn't have to fuss with making a custom lid for the drum of my choice. It was straightforward to assemble and this unit had the adaptors I needed to connect to my 4" dust collection system. The dust never completely goes away, but this item was progress for me.

Easy to empty
Added it directly to my roll around dust collector stand, it collects 99% of the large dust and most of the small dust particles. In the first month of using it there was only a 1/2” of dust in the bag below the filter most of which came from cleaning the filter.

Yes its expensive Yes you need it (just not the deluxe model :( )
This stupid simple (I'm sure they prefer elegant) design just makes life easier and improves your dust extraction 10x. Not by increasing suction but by decreasing suck. As in, how often your filters or bag or inlet get clogged. Last week I was planing some Pine and fir and my single-stage 1.5 hp dust extractor could do 2 boards without needing intervention. Well more like 1.5. Slapped this thing on and went to town. However, I can't recommend the deluxe model. I bought it because it looked like a nice design and was 1 less thing I had to worry about so I paid the premium to avoid buying a trashcan and modifying it. I feel like a total idiot for doing so. Sure the lid on the little canister is nice but its a cardboard canister. I don't know how I didn't realize that but zero chance I'd ever tell anyone to pay for the deluxe. Get the base unit and slap something under it and don't be an idiot like me :)

Oneida Cyclone dust collector
I use this in conjunction with a grizzly hepa dust collector, this cyclone captures 95% of wood chips and sawdust, very little makes it to the grizzly, works amazing. I had used there smaller dust deputy for years with my shop vac and was amazed at how well it captured all the sawdust.

Common (ie Jet) dust collectors are examples of Co's sitting on there asses
Great product. Perfect example of the "normal guys" sitting on their asses for years. My Jet was a pain in the ass with the exception of the motor (which has been a stud). This thing made it work as should have worked out of the box years ago. Only knock is the flange is a little thin. And would be nice to have a window to see level of crud. I'll fix that as it's a cheap fix . . . too cheap for Oneida not to include.

Works Perfectly
I was a little hesitant to order the unit based on some of the comments about poor quality and adaptability, but I needed this to deal with the output of my planer. I ordered the 4/5 kit version that came with the barrel. I wanted a turnkey solution that I could put into operation quickly. I did not want to have to run all over town to find a barrel that fit my specific needs, then have to cut out the opening and drill holes in the lid, along with getting it sealed up properly. The unit I received was in perfect condition with no voids that needed sealing. It went together quickly, and the adapters that came with it worked perfectly with my 4" Dust Right hose. It was in operation in less than 30 minutes. I tried it out with some of my equipment and all of the dust ended up inside the barrel. Worked perfectly for my needs.

Dust collection improved
I was aware oh th importance of a dust separator for efficient dust collection. Sanding and small band sawing projects generated small dust that was handled by my dust collector alone. After purchasing a thickness planer my system clogged after three practice boards. I purchased this Oneida dust collector based on a variety of reviews and it meets all my expectations. Furthermore it was delivered early.
