Nice set for one or two person recordings
I almost thought that my product was broken or that it wasn’t good because it was extremely noisy, both with the built-in mic and with the clip on lavaliere. I thought turning down the mic input gain would help, but it didn’t seem t actually reduce the input gain. The explanation is that after making a change with the adjustment button, the “set” button then needs to be held down again for the change to happen. That worked and I was able to get the ambient noise level down. However, it’s still noisy than I would hope for while still having a high enough gain to speak at the normal volume. I would say if you are trying to use this for anything semi-professional, you’’ll likely need to use the included foam (for lavaliere mic) or windscreen (for built-in mic) AND also process the audio recording with noise removing software.I would prefer an actual volume dial with some kind of switch or cover to prevent accidentally changing rather than having to click a few multi-purpose buttons to cycle through menu pages. Though I’m find with that for the other settings. I was concerned about the mute button n the side, dreading that being accidentally pressed while recording and ruining a take. It does require a decent amount of force to be pressed, so not super likely to be done by accident, but what I really like is that the mute button can be fully disabled in the menu settings, to have zero chance of it accidentally being pressed during recording. But it is nice to have if someone needs to cough, for example, and they can remember to press that button first so that if someone is monitoring through headphones, that it doesn’t suddenly get too loud. One downside of that being down while recording is it would silence the signal fully, including the noise floor, so it may require some extra skill in audio processing to disguise that gap.In mono mode, if both mics are used, then they both come into both ears. If in stereo mode, then 1 mic is in 1 ear, the other mic is in the other ear. During editing, they can be made to be mono again as well as panned specifically, so I like this flexibility. I also like the small form factor, which seems to be of durable enough quality. The screen on the mics is helpful (especially the battery life indicator), but between that and the logo and text, if I’m recording images of people speaking, I’ll need to clip the mic on their clothes so the clip is facing the camera or have them put the mic in their pocket and use the lavaliere. But then some black gaffers tape or vinyl sticker is needed because they also put the logo on the clip side! I understand the desire for companies to over brand their products, sticking their name and logo everywhere they can, and there are some people who willingly walk around with a giant tacky brand logo on their t-shirt or shoes. But for me, that is unacceptable. Under no circumstance would I produce a video that had a visible mic clipped on someone’s collar with a brand logo or name showing. There is a statement in another review for this, “The receiver has a jack for monitoring the audio IN REAL TIME, very helpful for determining if gain levels are needed.” which is true, but potentially misleading. I’m used to audio gear that has a visual display indicating audio input levels, especially to avoid clipping (unless using the more modern/advanced 32 bit float where clipping isn’t a concern). This doesn’t have that kind of “monitoring” but you can listen. I don’t fully trust this for setting gain levels, as clipping could be occurring which isn’t as identifiable through headphones at a noisy location. But it is still helpful, and for me most useful to immediately hear from my camera if there is an issue with either of the mic during a recording session (assuming I’m recording audio and video of other people talking, or where it would’t be a concern for me to have wired earbuds or headphones on).

Probably the best value Wireless Lavalier option.
First, I have a TON of pictures and video of this product and forgot to bring them with me on vacation. I'll upload them to this review at the end of the week when I get home. There are a lot of wonderful things to appreciate about this Mic set and here are my thoughts:- First the ability to adjust mic gain is a HUGE bonus. I love how I don't need any external equipment to mess with mic gains when I am interviewing a soft spoken subject.- You can change the channels on this mic set to avoid interfering other devices- There are lots of menu options- It worked for both my Iphone AND my Sony A1- I appreciate all the cables that made the set compatible with my different recording devices.- I interviewed my friend and his research on autism with this set. The quality was great and it lasted for the two hours, barely touching the full battery life.- The receiver has a jack for monitoring the audio IN REAL TIME, very helpful for determining if gain levels are needed.- All the devices have a back clip, the mics fit securely onto a wasteband.- The mics come with a pop screen and wind cover (which both work really well).- The clip is well placed on the mic- The audio is clean enough to modify during the video editing process.- For the price it works great compared to the pricing of other premium brands.- The stereo recording mode actually records to both channels on my Sony A1.What I don't like:- These mics came with a bunch of cables and accessories. They really need a storage solution as a part of the purchase.- The plastic body feels slightly flimsy. I'm worried about dropping them or accidentally crushing them.- The navigation of the extensive menu is a little tricky. All of the above points are serious enough concerns for me to remove stars, but I really hope the seller creates a second version of these mics incorporation storage and a more robust body.In some cases the audio sounds a little flat, this is due to the mic that came with the set. I tried this mic set with a Sennheiser lapel mic and a Rode lapel mic which produced much better sound. However, this is expected given the overall pricing. Again the audio file can be worked in post to add more dimension to the sound.Overall, I think this product is a great buy for someone who needs a solution but doesn't have triple digits to spend. I have tried several budget wireless solutions and this one is my favorite (especially for the mic gain). These mics don't record like a budget mic.
