It's not cheap but it's worth every penny in the end
Having one of these trash cans again is like getting back with an old love. The one that was amazing but you didn't realize it until they were gone. We bought one of these a while back and while there was nothing truly wrong with it, I guess I was mildly bothered by the holes in the lid for your fingers. I also thought it was just a lot more can than we needed and wanted to sell it and try to make some money and then buy some cheaper cans. We ended up with 2 cans of different sizes and found it to be a huge hassle in trying to empty them both at the same time. And they just didn't look good sitting out there next to each other. This can has handles and one can very easily take the trash and recycling out at the same time. This isn't cheap but it works reliably, it's really easy to empty the cans at the same time, and it looks great.

HATE the plastic ring designed to hold the bag in place
I never leave reviews. In fact, I have never left one before. I have the double can, & have had it for 2-3 months. I love the concept of the can. But, I’m starting to hate it. My husband already does. 1st, the ring thing which is supposed to hold the bag in place DOES NOT WORK! EVERY TIME someone pushes something down in (whether the bag is full or nearly empty), the plastic thing falls off the rim of the removable, internal can, INTO THE CAN, essentially negating point of a having bag at all. Then, in order to change the bag, I have to reach INTO the can to find the plastic thing to pull it up & remove the top of the bag from it in order to even pull the bag out of the can. Many times I even have to REMOVE TRASH to find it, not to mention my arm gets COVERED in gross stuff. It actually MAKES the mess the can is supposed to prevent. It’s awful. Maybe I don’t know how it works, but the little handles on the ring ensure the bag isn’t secure around it, anyhow. My husband refuses to change it, because it’s too hard to figure out how to put a new bag in. I agree. My kids CAN’T change because it already makes a mess when I do it, & I can’t imagine the mess it would make for them, AND because it’s to hard to put a new bag in. In order to avoid the mess, I have to change the bag before it’s even half full, & check the ring every time I put something in. And 2nd, even when the can gets naturally full, the bag itself isn’t full. I end up leaving the bag next to the can, continuing to add trash through the day until it’s full enough to take out. Why even have a can at all?! The can does NOT hold anywhere near full capacity, wasting bags. If the plastic ring were able to hold the bag up securely, AND had a little larger capacity, I’d love the can. But I just can’t love something which causes so much headache. I’m going to shop for a new one & take this one to my rarely used 2nd home.

Low Quality for $170
For almost $200, I expected this garbage can's features to be more efficient.First, it doesn't come with batteries. For a purchase that's this expensive, it just seems like cutting corners to not include the (4) D batteries needed.Second, the motion sensor requires you to nearly touch it in order for it to work. That small range makes it nearly a moot point to get a can with a motion sensor. Also, getting the top off to take out the bins for garbage and recycling is a pain. There's two clips on the inside that you have to push first before the top will release. Why not just put them on the side where the handles are located so that you can grip the handles, unpack the top, and lift it off. Or even better: make it so you can retrieve the bins from the motion sensor opening lid.The casters supplied are cheap, plastic garbage. I'm not expecting them to last long. Each side of the bin is only 8 gallons. So it fills up quickly. To top it off, the flimsly plastic retainer ring doesn't hold up to the weight of the garbage placed into it. Causing your bag to fall in. It also smudged immediately upon trying to remove it from the packaging.I'll be replacing this bin soon with another one that actually does what this bin was designed to do. I can't believe it it was nearly $200 for a GARBAGE CAN that isn't even good at doing what it's built for.

I really like it!
I was a bit apprehensive when reading the other reviews to order this. However, even though I love my other iTouchless can, I really liked the idea that this one has rollers, and I had one side for my recyclables and another for trash -- and don't have to have two different cans in my kitchen so I took a chance.I have waited a couple of months before writing this review to make sure I'm really happy with it and I am. It arrived in perfect condition (the folks shipping have gotten much better at packaging iTouchless), was easy to put together and set up, and it works like a champ. About the only negative I can say, and it's not a negative for me because it is just my husband and I at home now, is it wouldn't work well for a large family -- unless you were willing to take out the trash more often. I would really like to see this same design with the larger dual compartments. Then it would be truly perfect. We empty our kitchen trash about ever 2-3 days now, and with our larger unit, it was every 4-5 days.By the way, one of the reviewers complained about the plastic top on the unit and said it should be of sturdier material. I'm not sure I agree as a heavier duty top would make the top unit heavier to remove and replace. The top that is on it is really easy to take off and put back on and just needs to open automatically, which it does just fine. The sensor is one of the better ones.
