My father has had this style of pen as long as I can remember. I noticed he had lost his before we moved him into a memory care facility, so for Father’s Day we replaced it. He was thrilled!!This style is especially advantageous because the waffle imprint prevents the pen from sliding around while you’re gripping it. Refill are easy to find.Finally, it’s spiffy looking, with a reliable and classic design that holds up to years of use.

While it is still a pretty pen, this pen is of a far thinner gauge of silver than the pen I had in 1970. The etching is not as deep. The pen is not as heavy and feels light with a thin barrel. The overall quality is not the same. I was expecting my father’s Parker and got instead a flimsy imitation.

I had one of these pens in the mid '70's - 90's. I lost it after using it for many years and decided to get another.I'm disappointed. It's lighter, the etching is not nearly as deep as previously (likely because the lightened it by making the case thinner, therefore they can't etch as deeply) and most surprisingly, it doesn't write nearly as well. I would have assumed that the ink and ballpoint technology would have improved (it has with many of my other pens such as Mont Blanc and Lamy) but the gel just runs and the ballpoint is scratchy and irregular. I also think it's thinner than it was in the past.Overall, a disappointment. Perhaps if I had never had an older model, I'd think it was OK, but it is not nearly as good as I remember. It still looks good, though!
