Useful recipes
I’m fairly new to keto and found the tailored advice useful. Recipes look great and looking forward to trying them out.

Fairly informative
I bought this book because I’m interested in learning about the relationship between hormones and diet/ nutrition so that I can put it into practise. It is a fairly informative book in that respect and I will use much of the information as guidance in my own diet, but will probably choose not to follow it to the nth degree (as I’m not sure I want to work that hard, measuring every gram). I will see how it goes. As others have said, the style of the book probably appeals more to the American market, there are endless case story examples of clients, and the resulting tone comes across like a salesperson trying to convince a potential customer to buy. That tone gets tedious. I don’t want to be convinced, and just wanted the biological facts, the “how to” and relevant food and recipes so that I can try it for myself, to get my groove back. I ended up skimming/ skipping the long winded repetitive information and case studies, and went through the book with a highlighter pen to get to the nuts and bolts. I would recommend that approach unless you enjoy wading through repetition. The information re which foods work well, intermittent fasting and the recipes is useful.

Sadly disappointed
I've followed Sara for a while and enjoyed her previous book The Hormone Cure, but I have to say I found this book to be really disappointing for a number of reasons. Being a qualified nutritional therapist and 46 year old peri-menopausal woman, I was looking forward to reading about Sara's new and different keto plan suitable for women, especially women of my age, but for me it didn't feel different at all. I've worked with keto for clients and read a fair bit about it, and Sara's plan is just a keto diet, maybe a little less strict, followed by a lower carb mediterranean diet. The rest of the information in the book feels recycled from her previous book, it skips over important topics, and the client stories were very short and didn't offer much. I didn't feel I learned anything and if I hadn't had background knowledge on keto and women's health already, I expect I would have found it all confusing. Also, sorry but it was boring! I was glazing over a lot of the time and looking forward to finishing so I could move on to other books! I actually didn't finish it in the end, but read enough to know I needed to return it. I like Dr Sara's previous work and think she knows her stuff, but sadly, for me, this book definitely did not live up to the hype.

Disappointly complicated.
I understand the process of ketosis, I believe the science and it all makes perfect sense but calculating the plan that's right for yourself and applying it to your own life/lifestyle is extremely complicated. The recipes for shakes, salads, soups, casseroles etc. all contain a myriad of powders, oils, supplemental prebiotic fibre etc (probably to achieve the required 2:1 ratio) they're just not 'everyday' practical and considering the book is encouraging the consumption of plants over everything else there are only 3 vegetable dishes and two of those are artichoke dishes. I had hoped to learn how the healthy low carb meals I have been cooking and enjoying for years can be 'amended' to fit in line with the plan but it just doesn't seem possible. I'll take from this book the benefit of eating good quality (free range, organic, grass-reared etc.) produce, eliminating processed foods, sugars and simple carbohydrates, perhaps drinking a little less wine and excercising a little more - but I already knew that. I'm not so overweight and unhappy with myself to be bothered to go to this extreme, so that's a blessing.

“One size fits all”
I wish I could have returned this book.Collection of anecdotes and another heavy loaded promotion of keto diet.Too much advertising for her “Gottfried” protocol which is just a keto diet, nothing else.I was expecting a bit more scientific & rigorous approach, a least an acknowledgment that there is a VERY little scientific evidence of keto diet in women… that there are plenty of contraindications! It just doesn’t work for everyone.I’m appalled by almost a “religious propaganda” of keto…And unfortunately plenty of recipes are quite disappointing. I tried Coffee Cake, but had to throw it in the bin- flaxseeds floating in fat is definitely not the most appetizing meal.I’m sorry but it’s another “revolutionary” book.

Far too complicated
I was eagerly waiting for this book to launch, hoping that it held the answers to various issues faced with a post-menopause body. Having read her previous book, I was expecting a relatively simple plan with explanations and ways to live using her recommendations. Unfortunately, the new book is very scientific and requires so many measurements and comparisons that it is beyond the normal person. It seems that Dr Sara believes that everyone has easy access to a full range of tests, as well as someone to translate the results and then explain how that all works alongside all the other tests so you can achieve the desired result. While I'm sure she is correct in her hypotheses, unfortunately few people have the time or determination to follow this protocol, even if they can afford it. In addition, it's just about impossible to follow her recommendations if you live in the UK as we don't have access to all the supplements and tests.
