Must have missed "Imitation wood grain" when I read. Although I see WOOD is offered in another listing for just $4 more. I thought that's what I was buying. This is a standard quality (student) shoulder rest. Fits all of my full size electric and acoustic violins. Still concern for the classic, problematic stripped screws on the height adjustment. This seems as though it will have the same issue in time. (Height adjusting screws usually strip out, at which point the height remains at lowest level.) Hopefully it won't so that for a long time, but that is usually the case with lower quality rests such as this one. I will buy the real wood one for my acoustic, and the "carbon fiber" looking one for my black electric violin. Price is great at least, so I can keep one in each case! :)

About a week after getting the violin, she broke the shoulder rest. I don't know how. They weren't even playing the violin yet. They were still learning to read music. I ordered this replacement and it was nicer than the original one I bought with the violin.

It is comfortable and I can hold it on my shoulder without any support from my left hand I am right handed
