Catches so much hair
This catches more hair than any other product we have tried. It takes a little bit of pushing to get it into the drain, but it is so effective. My daughter has long hair and it catches it all. I'm always impressed with how much it has caught when I pull it out to clean it.

It's great, if your shower drain plumbing is typical
The TubShroom in our other bathroom works great, and I like how easy it is to wipe off the trapped hair and gunk, but it turns out our standup shower stall's drain pipe has too short a run with the right diameter for a snug fit with the ShowerShroom. If we insert the shroom to where the top "hanger" rests nicely in the little well around our drain, the base of the shroom then dangles too low, past where our drain pipe widens, so it lets hair and debris flow around it into the plumbing system. If we insert the shroom only partway in the drain, it stays snug in the pipe and seems reliable to trap everything it should, but then the top of the shroom sticks up too high and is easy to trip or step on, pushing the shroom back below its effective zone (sometimes to where it's a pain to retrieve, or even could get lost). So before ordering I recommend checking not only your drainpipe inner diameter, but also if that section of pipe runs deep enough to hold the ShowerShroom in the right place. I'm inspired by some of the modifications others have made and may try my own, but it'd be great if the Shroom folks could come out with a version of this for shorter drains.

Impressive
I've been using the ShowerShroom Revolutionary 2" Stand-Up Shower Stall Drain Protector for a couple of months now, and I'm incredibly impressed with its performance. This little gray marvel has truly revolutionized my shower experience by effectively catching hair and preventing clogs. Its stand-up design makes installation a breeze, and it fits perfectly into my shower stall drain without any hassle. Since using the ShowerShroom, I've noticed a significant reduction in clogs and backups, which has saved me both time and frustration. What's truly remarkable is its ability to catch even the smallest hair strands without impeding water flow. Cleaning is a breeze too – I simply remove the ShowerShroom, clean off the collected hair, and it's ready to go again. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the ShowerShroom. It's a simple yet incredibly effective solution to a common household problem, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to keep their shower drain clear and flowing smoothly.

Good idea in concept; poor execution in design
I own several sets of the tubshroom and I bought several of the showershroom. The tubshroom was their first product conceived and it worked well for me for the most part. The only complaint I have with the tubshroom is that once the tiny holes get plugged with lint and hair and.....whatever, the water will start to back up until you clean it....and it isn't as easy to clean as it may seem. But on to the showershroom. The showershroom seems to have been conceived based on the success of the tubshroom and while it may have seemed to be a solution to a similar problem, the design issues are much different. In the tub, the tubshroom really has no where to go and in many tubs, it sits in the drain atop a metal protector which may exist for the original drain stop attached behind the tub wall and connected to a lever. So the tubshroom isn't going anywhere. Shower drains however, vary in design, and with my shower having just been rebuilt with one of the modern drains, my drain simply does not have a ledge for the Showershroom "wings" to hold it securely. My drain has a slanted design, but never-the-less, when the Showershroom was new, the wings that hold it from falling into the drain were much firmer. But as it got weeks older, the rubber seemed to soften a bit, especially from the weight of accumulated hair, lint, etc., and at some point, it simply slid down the drain. And because the size of the Showershroom is pretty close to the width of the drain itself, water was definitely getting backed up behind my beautiful Showershroom "stopper". I hired a plumber to snake the Showershroom down to the larger pipe down the line, but he was unable to clear the line fully. As I later found out, the Showershroom had slid down into the "S" pipe just under the shower and when the plumber stuck the snake down from the Shower end, the snake apparently forced its way past the Showershroom that was stuck, but it did clear some of the hair. So after the snake procedure, the drain seemed to be clearer and hence we thought our problem was over. But a week later, the water started to back up again and so I was certain it was somewhere still stuck in the line somewhere. What a nightmare. I took a look at my pipes underneath the shower and noticed that the pipes connected to the drain were the smaller standard size used to connect the "S" drain trap to the drain entrance. So I was 99% sure, the Showershroom was still in this section nearest the drain. To make a long nightmare short, I took a chance and simple got a coat hanger wire and created a hook at the end, hoping that it would run into the Showershroom and get hooked into one or more of the Showershroom holes. After about 20 minutes of shoving the wire in and out, trying to get it around the bend, I managed to push the wire further and SUCCESS! I started pulling out what I thought was hair, but instead, to my surprise, out came the Showershroom! In summary, if you're going to use the Showershroom, make sure the design of your drain is such that it will hold the Showershroom at the top of the drain with some degree of certainty. If not, you may be saving yourself time and aggravation with hair issues, only to be replacing that issue with a much, much bigger issue in a clogged drain. Needless to say, I only spent $100 to have my drain snaked, but if I had not been able to retreive the Showershroom on my own, plumbing costs would certainly have run many hundreds (if not thousands) more, depending upon the steps and time the plumber takes to eliminate the issues. I still feel the Showershroom is a good idea, but it needs to be redesigned so that there's some flexibility in how it suspends itself in differing drain designs.

Effective but Flawed Drain Protector
I purchased the ShowerShroom 2" Stand-Up Shower Stall Drain Protector with high hopes, and while it does a commendable job at catching hair and debris, there's one major drawback that keeps me from giving it a higher rating. First, the positives: this product is indeed efficient at its primary task – catching hair and preventing it from clogging the drain. For that purpose, it deserves recognition. It's easy to install and fits well in my shower stall. It’s appearance blends in well and makes it to were it goes unnoticed. However, there's a significant downside that has frustrated me during use. The hanger mechanism, designed to keep the ShowerShroom in place, is just too flimsy and not durable enough. It doesn't hold up well under pressure, and when the protector fills up with hair, it has a tendency to slip down the drain. This issue has led to some inconvenient moments in my shower routine. In summary, the ShowerShroom is functional, but it falls short when it comes to the reliability of its hanger. It's frustrating to see a product with such promise undermined by a simple design flaw. If the company can strengthen the hanger mechanism, it could be a five-star product. Until then, it's a decent option, but with reservations.

A great product for $10 dollars -ish
A great product and the price has stayed about $10 to $11 for over six years. I will keep buying more as this stops jus about everything from going down the shower drain, but it does get rather dirty so we throw them away and replace with a brand new one every year or so.

If you want a good way to stop hair going down and clogging the drain...
Buy this - especially if you have 1 or more females in the home. Our drains have never flowed so well!! It stops the great majority of their hair from going down and clogging the drain. Now if I could just get one for the sinks in the house - who knew the girls would shed so badly? Definately not a problem I have - afterall being married with girls - I've lost my hair already! BUT WAIT theres more... Be prepared for some of the most disgusting, grimey, horrible and smelly hair traps to clean out. If you dont clean this out every other day you'll end up with the drain getting clogged, and mold/mildew on the hair. Glove up and clean that crud out. If you ask me (which obviously you did not) the only way to make this better is to somehow set it up like a cat litter trap that is self cleaning---not sure how that would be possible, but after cleaning our traps out for a few months I'd probably pay $300-400 to avoid the mess...or just plan on buying one of these every month (Auto delivery?) for each drain and throw the suckers out. At this price its probably worthwhile. Strongly recommend throwing them away once a quarter at the minimum. In summary, works great, needs automation, highly recommended, and its probably worth assigning to your daughters/wife who will clean the trap since its their hair. ( Good luck on that one my friend!!)
