The colors are very rich. Three pens and a drawing knife were given as well as 24 oil painting colors and palettes. My three year old son loves it very much. Oil paint dyes are normal fuel taste and no other odors. The plastic box doesn't have a weird smell either. So it can be safely used by children.

Nice quality starter set for a budding artist. This includes a good array of colors and the clear containers make it easy to determine the precise color. I'm not a professional artist or even well informed amateur, so opinions might differ, but I think these are good.

5 stars for the paints, 2 stars for the box/brushes/palette.The paints are a lot of fun to work with - there's a great variety of colors that can be used for portraits, still lifes, and everything in between. Plus, 30mL of each color is enough to do many projects! The paints have a pudding-like consistency and can be revived easily with a little water if they dry out. The colors mix well together on the provided palette, which is also not difficult to clean. The brushes stain quickly but work well (see photo to see how white brush bristles stained blue even after repeated washes).HOWEVER, the box can not close when all the paints are inside!! It arrived to me with the lid already popped open and everything kind of loose in the shipping box. This is highly inconvenient for storing or transporting the paints. If you only use the middle 12 slots, then the box can close. It's frustrating because if they'd just made the lip of the container a little wider it could have fit all 24 paint cups, but now only half of them can fit if you want to close the box. The palette definitely does not fit inside either.The paint set works well enough for at home projects; I just wish the case worked properly so I could better store the paints.

Very cool set—a lot of thought went into presentation and packaging and has a contemporary appeal. I’m new to gouache but so far these have the advantages of acrylics for opaque coverage and also the advantages of watercolor for translucent for layering depending on how much water is blended. I was able to layer the colors without the colors mixing if I let the color underneath dry first, which I really like. I ordered two different HIMI gouache 24-color products thinking that the paint colors were different but they both had the same colors, included brushes, palette, paint knife, and the paints are in a resealable silicone container to keep paints from drying out. These paints have a shelf life of 36-months.Color Dye Lots: Good news is that between the 2 kits, the labeled paint color dye lots differ but the paint colors ARE consistent, so I can reorder without concern. The only color I was concerned about was White which looks different in the cup but once opened and stirred, there was no notable difference.*** Helpful? I rely on customer reviews for all my online purchases, so I hope so! ***

The gouache paint in this kit is good. It takes just a bit of water to dilute them and they go on smooth and with good opaque colors. The jelly cups are convenient in that you can see the paint rather than a tube cap. The brushes are of good quality compared to most brushes that come with paint sets. The spatula is very helpful to avoid mixing paints when getting some from the cups.This set comes loose in that there is no retail style packaging for the whole set. The jelly cup case is slightly off in that the lid doesn't want to close tightly due to pressure on the sides from the jelly cups themselves. I am not sure if that will have a long term impact on gouache. Some other sets come with anti-mildew spray to spray on top of the jelly cups when storing for instance.The palette comes inside the box but I would not recommend leaving it in there as it will put pressure on the open jelly cups. There is a small recess to store a few brushes, too.

This is a nice set of gouache paints. They give you 3 brushes and a knife along with the set of paints. The paints come inside a container with a snap top on it, and there is also a palette in the box that is sturdier plastic than most I have gotten in sets. I am still fairly new to gouache paint, so I cannot really say for sure how well the quality is compared to other brands, but so far this paint seems to be doing well for me.
