I wanted to take the time to review this product. I am a mechanical engineer and while that doesn't make me a pepper expert, it does allow me the expertise to fairly evaluate the merits of a mechanical device. Unfortunately, this is simply cheap Chinese made junk. Regardless of the "setting", it takes waaayyyyy too long for you to get the pepper you need and want. The entire point of a pepper grinder is to make your life simpler, right. Well, if you want to wait for 5 to 10 seconds to get your pepper, then this is the product you want.I even took it apart to see if there was something perhaps wrong/jammed but it appears it is simply just an extremely poor design. I would recommend spending more money on a worthwhile product. I wish I had vetted this out and could have returned...just going into the garbage.

The thing looks very nice but it's only actually good only if you want want finely ground pepper. It pretends to have various grades of grinding, but the truth is there's one and only one: fine. bummer for us because we like our pepper more coarsely ground. It is very slow at dispensing pepper, so slow that even though it sits on our table, we usually reach for the pepper shaker instead. Very disappointing. By slow, we mean you can grind away for 15 seconds and still not have enough pepper. Grinding is also unexpectedly noisy, so that's more than 15 seconds of "Hey look at me!"

I have to admit: salt AND pepper mill, to me, meant a separate chamber for the salt alongside the pepper. If I had naming rights, I’d definitely call this an Electric Salt/Pepper Mill to clear up any vagueness.After the initial disappointment that this was not both, and then procuring the 6 AAA batteries (or is it 8??) needed to operate it, I considered myself marginally thrilled. I guess the little light on the bottom was a bonus. It has various grind settings from very course to fine. After about a month, though, I found that no matter which setting I used, the pepper didn’t come out very well. Then, today, when I was cooking dinner, I bumped it over with my elbow and the silver casing that slides down over the top came loose. It works better than expected, using it inverted, as a makeshift pestle.

Works well. But, you have to keep the bottle pretty full as it doesn't work as well once the peppercorns get below 3/4 full. It works well for the price though. However, it doesn't grind super fine even on the fine setting, so don't buy it if you must have a fine grind.

It didn't last long as far as the grinding ability goes. Great the first few months and then it just whirred and whirred with little pepper coming out. Now about to buy a new one somewhere else

I wouldn’t even give this item one star. I ordered it based on other good reviews... however I should have listened to the low ratings. The pepper grinder is difficult to install the 8 batteries. It also doesn’t stay put together and doesn’t grind with ease. Save your time and money.

Ordered the time that the electric grinder will make things easier for seasoning, but once I placed the peppercorn inside and pressed the button, I didn't expect the grinder to take forever to grind nothing. It barely grinded any amount after 5 minutes of pressing the button and I just placed fresh new batteries inside. I returned the item the same day and Amazon issued a full refund.

I like the slim figure of this grinder. It has a good weight to it and is balances so not to be awkward while using. The light that shines while grinding is very helpful to be able to see that the salt/pepper goes on the food evenly. This product saves me from grinding salt/pepper before use, I can add the un-ground salt/pepper directly saving time. There is different grind sizes to use cooking different foods instead of having to have only one grind.
