Can you assenble it left to right instead?
I spent much time wondering if it would assemble left to right instead as I wanted it to go under my stairs which run the opposite angle to the picture. The answer is…. Sort of.You can only actually assemble this in the configuration shown in the picture stepping to the right. If you want it going to the left you have to flip it on its side.It works but its not really designed to go that way because the shelves aren’t as strong when flipped that way. There are more screws showing on the right hand panel and the shelves weight is supported by the fittings and dowels, rather than being supported by the wood underneath. The boxes still fit as the holes are perfect squares. For me it is fine because I’m only using it for shoes and motorbike helmets and dog coats. However if you are putting any weight on it like books etc, its not going to be as strong and probably wont work.

It'll do...not very sturdy but still value for money
I needed storage for DVDs as my collection had outgrown a small bookshelf. After much research, I opted for this cubed storage as its dimensions were fitting the intended space and number of DVDs.I could have purchased this slightly cheaper elsewhere but wanted to have Amazon's customer service in case anything was wrong for peace of mind.Delivery was a few days quicker than predicted, perhaps because the seller is close to my home town. It was nevertheless a positive surprise as I was keen to receive the item. The quality is to be expected given the price, the material cost and delivery cost might even exceed the sale price given the current times we live in. The wood is thin but all pieces were clean and scratch-free. No screws, nails or dowels were missing. All pieces were flat-packed quite well.I had to build this on my own, but doing this with a second person would have helped to secure the build a bit more, push pieces together a bit better. It is not overly difficult to build this as the instructions are clear and short (and repetitive), but you can see there are slight gaps between pieces as I wasn't able to push the parts properly together for fear of breaking the dowels: one dowel snapped easily in half, and there are no spares. As I didn't have any spares available nor wanted to wait to buy some, I used ordinary glue and some sellotape to fix it and insert it back into its space. The back panels could be left off if a see-through cube is desired, however they give the piece of furniture much more stability; otherwise it would be both wonky and wobbly so are therefore quite necessary. There are four back panels of the size of each column of cubes, however they didn't fully fit flush so had to compromise with one hanging slightly over the bottom right single cube (could probably be sawed off but I don't have those tools nor would I have fancied the hassle nor mess). This items suits my needs: the DVDs have a home, it was not very expensive to buy, it came quicker than anticipated, but it is not very stable as the material is cheap and thin.An IKEA Kallax storage would be and look much more substantial, but would also create a much more substantial hole in one's wallet so this item is a trade off. I'd still recommend it though if some cheap storage is needed quickly.

UNIT ASSEMBLES EASILY
Easy to assemble if you follow the instructions. I made a bigger unit out of two of this size. These days however with these self assemble units there are no spare dowels or screws in case of failure. Will stand quite a lot of weight and is quite sturdy for these days.

Great storage
Perfect storage unit that was needed to fit under the stairs.

Good
Lovely item, as with all flat packs the holes for the screws are alittle off

Not the best Material for the money paid
First time we received this it had to be sent back as there was pieces broken.Second one we received we built with no problems. However considering the price I expected the book case to be a bit more than painted over plasterboard which is essentially what this is.

Not the finest
This is the usual cheap tat flat pack furniture. OK for a temporary fix but not robust enough to last long. The screws and dowels are absolute rubbish. You may want to supply your own.

Useful storage
Surprisingly effective unit. A couple of places where scuffs have had a blob of paint to cover them, which isn’t attractive but doesn’t really show when the unit is assembled. It fits perfectly in a small alcove, looks good and is a good tidy way to store a few books, ornaments, etc. very solid and sturdy and not too bad to assemble.
