This puzzle is a cube consisting of three layers. The top and bottom layers are cut like a pie in 8 pieces; 4 edge pieces and 4 corner pieces, 30 and 60 degrees wide respectively. The top and bottom layers can rotate. The middle layer is cut in only two halves along one of the lines of the other layers. If there are no corner pieces in the way, you can twist half the cube 180 degrees so that pieces from the top and bottom layers mingle. The puzzle is unique in that the two types of pieces intermingle. The edge and corner pieces can freely move between the two outer layers. Of course, the puzzle will not necessarily be a cube shape if the pieces are mixed. The puzzle has six colors, each face has a single color similar to the Rubik's cube.

Bad quality, ready to fall apart.
I had ordered and received two cubes and both have already displayed the poor quality of the product. The cubes feel ready to fall apart after only three days' use; one had an edge face fall off from the very first twist, while the other has sloppily pasted-on stickers - on top of which, the cubes are different from the product displayed, with both having differing color placements and no "Square 1" branding. This makes following beginner tutorials and algorithms somewhat problematic due to a discrepancy with the face colors. The only positive note is the fast and smooth twisting and turning.

Awesome puzzle!
Well built, great puzzle, keeps position when tossed in backpack. Fun for anyone who's tired of the traditional cubes!

Quality of cubes are inconsistent. First one was great. Second one fell apart in my hands.
This is the second one I've purchased. The first one was amazing, super smooth, rotated great, it didn't have an graphics on it. So I thought maybe I should purchase another one since the first one was such high quality and a reasonable price. The second one was ready to fall apart in my hands? It had graphics on it. It said "square-1" on the orange side. It would be great if they sent me one like the first one because the quality has gone down hill. Both purchases were only months apart. I wonder what happened?

Ignoring the fact that this cube is ridiculously hard to solve, the cube itself is pretty decent. The cube turn pretty decently in most directions, but certain vertical slice moves are somewhat difficult. If you aren't trying to speed cube this puzzle, then the Dayan Cube is a good choice for a decent price.

Not worth it
This was the second I bought of this cube. The first didn't last very long - this one only a few days. It wasn't being abused. I was watching when the cube broke. First the tops of the sections came off, then it started disassembling.

Fell apart after few use
This was a bad design. My son at first loved the cube when we got them in the mail but after playing with it for a while, they cube broke into many pieces. He can put them back back as he turned, it broke again to the point the get sick of it because it kept falling apart.

I was charged Rs.700 whereas the actual price is less than Rs.500. It was highly overpriced and I feel ripped off.
