ESV Large Print Value Thinline Bible (TruTone, Raspberry, Floral Design): Holy Bible, English Standard Version

As a student at a Christian university, this Bible was an ideal discovery for the following reasons: 1) Appearance: The size is perfect for toting around. Unlike some compact/condensed Bibles that end up too thick or lengthy, this one is small enough to pull out in class and easily fits in backpacks and purses. The cover's softness gives a comfortable, personal feeling to the Bible that is often missing with more rigid (even leather) textures. Consequent flexibility of the frame allows each page to stay in place regardless of its proximity to the beginning or end of the Book. Finally, the neutrality of its color--a sort of smokey blue shade--is subtle and appropriate for both sexes. 2) Content: I am very impressed by the amount of information included in this thin, lightweight edition. The introductions at the beginning of each chapter concisely combine the authorship, summary, context, key themes, and date of writing that usually span pages in regular study Bibles. The concordance is surprisingly thorough, and the footnotes are neither excessive nor lacking. 3) Text: I am all about structure, and my favorite aspect of this Bible is its clean organization. The font is clear and readable, slightly changing in different sections so that intros, section titles, and the canon are distinct and tidy. The layout is aesthetically pleasing throughout. Also, the accuracy of the ESV translation makes it widely embraced and preferred by Bible professors. You cannot go wrong with ESV. This product terminated an extensive search and failed attempts to find a smooth, slender, classy-looking Bible that provides a little extra context/information without being bulky. The product dimensions, weight, and content are hard to beat. I definitely recommend this Bible.

The cover is very pretty, as well as durable. The print is large enough to read. It's God's word, so it is perfect.

Great Bible for a gift. Large print was smaller than I expected. Luckily, it was for a younger person with better eyes than I. Beautiful design on the outside.

Beautiful bible!

I love this Bible. It is true to color and beautiful. The cover feels soft and is flexible, not plastic-like or stiff-feeling. However, I don't think I was actually sent a Large Print version of it. I don't mind and didn't personally need the text to be large. I purchased this as part of a gift for a church ladies' Christmas party gift exchange. I liked it so much that I got my own gift! If it had been taken by someone else such as an elder lady, it might have been an issue that this wasn't, in fact, very large print. I no longer have the box this came in, so I can't double check, but either this is not the large print version OR it is just not very large print compared to others also advertised as such. I haven't been highlighting or writing in this Bible yet so far, but the pages look and feel thick enough to handle it if a Bible highlighter were used. Overall, this Bible is my daily reader and very loved.

I am a person with diminished vision, having had nine surgical interventions in my eyes. For that reason I have difficulty reading the standard print, (10 Point print), of my old Bible. In fact, I have to use a magnifying glass to do so. So I decided to order a Giant Print ESV Bible, with 15 Pt. print size, which Amazon offered on a Pre-Order basis. Two days later they advised me by email that the Bible ordered was no longer available. That left me in some desperation, as I needed an urgent solution to my problem. The only alternative I could find is this Large Print ESV Bible. I was hesitant to order it because it has a 12.75 Pt. print size, which in reality is only 50% greater than that of my old Bible. But I finally decided to take a chance with regard to it's adequacy for me and ordered it. I also specified expedited shipping because I live in Colombia, South America. The Amazon estimate of earliest delivery time was 10 Days. I was delighted when it arrived, delivered to my front door in 11 Days! Also the Customs Authority here did NOT demand payment of Duty and Value Added Tax, which was an extra bonus. The Bible, it's Box and the packaging were all in perfect condition. Opening the Bible I found, with much joy and satisfaction, that I could read the texts easily and comfortably with my normal reading glasses. So, my anxieties regarding the print size were exaggerated. The Bible itself is of high quality and finely crafted. The paper of the pages is thin, very white and of traditional bible quality. When reading the texts, I am not conscious of any bleed-through of the print. The type face is excellent, uniform, fine and of great precision. The page layout is spacious and uncluttered, which makes it a pleasure to read. The binding is sewn and the Bible lies flat when opened. The Leather cover is of excellent quality, flexible and good to the touch. I can recommend this Bible to anyone, but particularly to those who may hesitate to buy it because of the print size. I am a first time buyer and congratulate and thank Amazon for the efficiency and quality of their service.

I got tired of hauling my big study Bible around and sought a more compact, easier-to-throw-in-a-bag Bible. It also had to have print that was easy to read. This fit the bill. The size is perfect for carrying but also has enough heft to hold comfortably in my hand. I only read the ESV now, and find it the easiest and most comprehensible to read without losing much of the translation. The embossed cover is pretty and unusual also. I would have preferred a leather cover, but of course that would have impacted the price as well. I’m happy with it overall.

Delivered fast and packed nicely. Love the colour. The font size is perfect for reading. There is a bit weight on it but still good if you plan to use it outside. God bless you!

Beautiful Bible, perfect gift. The text is very easy to read and it is accessible to anyone. The presentation is beautiful and encourages one to read more. Great way to gift Gods word, whether to a friend/family, a stranger, of yourself. 10/10

This book has a format of two columns on each page which I think most bible readers will be used to. Binding and printing are to a good standard. The book size has been criticised elsewhere but it is a standard USA size which I find very comfortable to handle. Most importantly the paper used in this edition is not the thinnest and so the pages do not drag downwards as is the case of many large books. To give a practical example when I held the bible open at John the left hand side of the book moved downwards only a little. Those of us who hand hold the book to read will appreciate just how good that is! As a comparison I have the CEV version and the pages are much thinner and are very prone to slip. So it is a very nice book to read at the practical level. Footnotes and other essential cross references are kept to small print at the bottom of the page so that they do not interfere with continuous reading. I find this a very good translation although to enlarge on meanings I refer to other versions on occasion and it might be dishonest not to admit that. On the whole though it is a good reading version, but I am still not sure that it is 'better' than the Revised English, which I consider is still very undervalued. Nevertheless it is still my 'pick' of the large print bibles of which there are not that many really. One final note is that the text is clear and large of course but the font has 'tall upright character' which I am now settling down to but which I had not seen before. The easy to read properties of this bible are probably going to make it my favourite book.

A very nice edition of the ESV bible, albeit a little on the heavy side. But that will be a consequence of the very large print. However, being seniors, we do really like that feature. Heartily recommended!
