Q: How do I remove the old stopper ring? Is it threaded, or just pop-in? Suggestions from someone who's done this already are appreciated.

This is a threaded fitting that requires removal of the old flange by separating the drain plumbing, pushing up into the sink, removing and replacing the threaded flange and reinstalling the drain piping. Use plumbers putty under the flange to keep a leak tight seal between the flange and sink.

Q: Is the sink ring and plug portion metal or plastic?

Sink ring is metal but the plug is mostly plastic with the exception of the cap.

Q: will this fit to my sink even though my faucet is American Standard brand?
