Should have got one years ago
I read all the reviews before buying this. Then I watched the video on the Badge-a-Minit site. I was expecting a fairly straightforward tool that would be a little finicky.I received the set today and within an hour had created my first 12 badges. The first one had a minor defect; the rest came out perfectly. I don't expect to have more than 1 or 2 rejects over the next 48 badges. That's right, 60 total. Although the product description says 50, this set actually comes with a starter set of 10 badges and a 50-badge refill pack.I strongly recommend this product for anyone who likes badges and/or likes creating things. I simply can't understand the reviews that said they had lots of failures. The instructions are simple and the process doesn't require any precise actions. They should have called the 800 number and asked for assistance; they either got a defective set or were doing something wrong.

Great value, fun, and easy
I love this button maker. I owned the same one when I was a teenager. Its relatively easy to use, but it can be just a little tough to squeeze the handle tight enough to clamp the button. The instructions are very straight forward. It is small and compact so very easy to tuck away while not in use. It did come with some cute buttons to make to start. I use my cricut to print and cut but it would be very easy to just cut the 2.5 inch circles for the button. That is what I did back in the day. This is a really fun and easy craft to do for anyone who loves crafting. Not to mention the replacement buttons aren't too expensive.Plus it is really quick. I made four buttons start to finish in about 15 minutes the other day.

Must read before you buy!!!!! Extra cost involved!!
I was just about to return this product but you can’t find a hole punch that fits it. Looked on amazon and online for 2 days trying to find something that wasn’t $200. Finally found this fiskers cutter that cuts circles from 1”-8” and once I figured out how to use it, it cut perfect sized circles for the buttons. It was $22 at JoAnns. The next challenge was when you go to assemble the button you have to do everything perfectly and slowly. This is not a fast process. I would say out of the 30 buttons I have made so far only 12 came out perfect. This product is easy to use but easy to mess up. Take your time!! And never try and cut free hand! It just won’t work. You have to have a cutter. Wish I new that before I bought this and I many not have gotten a button maker at all.

It Gets Small Jobs Done
If you’re just doing a few buttons here and there this is great AND it’s portable. Maybe 1 mishap out of 20 (and that’s really just been user error) - the part that catches me is the final squeeze - I can’t tell if it’s solid enough to push everything together and because of my carpal tunnel I can only squeeze but so hard (which is main reason I said it’s good for a few buttons here and there)

Makes really nice buttons!
My daughter needed buttons for a school election so we bought her this button maker. After reading all the reviews and the instructions, we watched a few videos on YouTube. There is definitely a learning curve with this tool. Took a few tries to get it perfect, and we went though a few of the plastic circles, but then my daughter was able to make herself about sixty really nice buttons in very little time. We got her some thin sparkly paper for the background (we had thick paper as well and the thin works best). She designed the buttons using 2 inch Avery circles, and cut out 2 1/4 inch circles with an EK jumbo circle punch. We definitely recommend this item for all your button needs.

Cheap and easily broken
Broke instantly on the first button. Instructions are hard to follow, so I won't order that again.

Takes a lot of hand strength
I was used to the more elaborate badge a minute - with the stand pressure. This smaller one was too hard for me so my neighbor took over and she had difficulty. Her husband ended up doing them. If you plan doing a lot - I only needed 50- I suggest you go for the bigger, more expensive one. The finished product was a hit.
