SHIMANO Dura-Ace 9100 C40 Wheelset

The product was delivered to Canada in less than a week, and the wheels were as expected. I purchased them in February 2018 and I've done about 5,000 kms since then. I can say the wheels are still true, roll great and hold speed well. They are very comfy, too, although my new Continental GP 4000 II tires may have something to do with it. They are sweet tires. I would say I'm getting 2 to 3 km/h more speed for the same effort between the wheels and tires. On "very" windy days, the cross winds do affect the handling here and there, but pretty minor overall. I'm glad I decided on the C40s rather than the C60s for this reason. Very happy with these wheels, and assuming they will continue to be durable, I highly recommend.

To be fair these wheels are running Bontrager R3 HCL with Vittoria Competition Latex tubes. My other wheelset is Shimano Ultegra WH-6800 with Bontrager Aw3 HCL tubeless. So, it's not a one to one comparison.Pros:I now know what "spins up fast means. Yes they do.They came out of the box perfectly true.Mounting the tires was fairly easy. For those not in the know, latex tubes are very easy to pinch when mounting.They look good and the Dura Ace label is not eye watering bold. I tend to be conservative about bike flash, preferring colorful jerseys.So far in my limited riding they feel good on turns and braking.I can't really speak about the aero qualities, but I was 2 MPH faster on a flat with the same wattage.Came with a pair of nice wheel bags. I have my Ultegras in them right now.Cons:Price, a bit rich for this old retired man.I really don't have anything else in the con list.Notes: They definitely sound different than my Ultergras, not freewheeling clicks, that is the same. The Ultegra had simi bladed spokes. these are more so. I once managed to get a finger between spoke and fork blade on my old wheel lading the bike in my car. I believe these would do more than bruise.I am going to give 5 stars on durability based on the past history with 2 sets of Shimano wheels.

Best wheelset I've ever had. Even though they aren't full carbon wheels, I have noticed their aero capabilities to a 1-2 mph improvement in speed at 20 mph or more. Also pretty damn light weight and the build quality is top notch. Shimano never lets me down.

You get what you pay for, so I did not rate the price - just the quality. And this wheel set is deserving of the 5 stars! I changed this wheel set out with my Bontrager Aerolus carbon wheel set, and it has been a quantum leap forward. Each wheel arrived perfectly true and the spokes evenly tensioned requiring no adjustment whatsoever. And in the first 10 days, I’ve covered over 500 miles on this wheel set over various terrains in Hawaii. Absolute bliss!

Received when promised. Wish Shimano had upgraded these wheels, however, I still really like these wheels, having used Dura Ace 24 mm wheels for years without any issue. Roll up quickly, handles Michigan roads.

Took some time to get them delivered but they were worth every penny. I'm at least 1.5-MPH faster with these wheels. I will say they are slightly susceptible to crosswinds. I'm 185-Lbs so it doesn't really affect me much but if I were 35-40 lbs light it would be a challenge in crosswinds. great wheels, glad I took the plunge!
