Does what it's supposed to do
PROS: Knife sharpening has a lot to do with the technique and less on the quality of the stone. With that out of the way, this is a good setup for your knives around the kitchen. The two-sided stone does a very good job sharpening not only your knives, but other cutting tools too (I use it to sharpen a machete too). For the common household, as it is in my case, I realized that it's not totally necessary to use both sides to get a sharp edge on a knife. The blue side (1000 grit) does a pretty good job of sharpening knives for daily all-around use, such as cutting vegetables, fruits, cheeses, etc. The 6000-grit side is there if you really want to hone your knife for cutting meats or for more precise cutting. It's built to last. I've had it for a couple of years. I use it on a regular basis, and it barely wore off. CONS: the wooden base has a rubber pad on the bottom to avoided slippage, but it doesn't do a very good job at it. I find myself having to sit the base and the stone on a piece of wet cloth on my counter to avoid the eventual slipping that I inevitably always happen. Also, the base seems to be made out of bamboo, and with time and the wetness of the stone after its use caused it to turn dark due to mold growth.

Great product. Works but for beginners….
Works great and does what it’s advised. You just need the correct technique and elbow grease on your part. There’s plenty of videos online to develop your skill. You should know 2 things however. The stone will smooth and not work as well over time as the more you use it, the smoother the stone becomes. Making it take longer to sharpen. Gritter stones, the lower number, the gritter and therefore more metal is being taken away to sharpen. On the same note, if you never sharpen your kitchen knifes, which this product is for, and they extremely dull, you will likely need a higher grit. After I got this stone and kit, I got a 400 grit stone as the 1000 grit isn’t enough for the very, very dull blades I had. Would recommend and def purchase again

Great store, terrible moldy stand.
Nice stone, sharpens knives very well. For example, it is enough to sharpen my Samura knives once every 2-3 months. Convenient stand, but there is one problem with it. After the 1st use, both the stand and rubber became covered with mold, despite the fact that I dried it well for 1-2 days until completely dry after use. After the second use (photo), there was so much mold that the stand had to be thrown away (not sure about the rubber yet), it became inconvenient to sharpen without them. So, if you can find the same store with better stand I would recommend to buy that model.

I can finally sharpen my wife's kitchen knives.
I love the wet stone, even though it takes a few minutes to get set up. It takes about ten minutes to saturate the stone before beginning, but that's no big deal. I watched a YouTube video and was sharpening knives like a pro in no time. I actually came across this stone while watching a video on Chef's Knives. They covered knife maintenance and used this wet stone for the sharpening portion. It took a while to get rid of the rough edge that the cheap drag-through kitchen knife sharpener put on the knives, but the rough side (white side) worked those out pretty quickly. The fine side (blue side) dressed the edge up with just a few strokes, and I was shredding every piece of paper I could lay my hands on. I recommend this product highly for both the price and function. I purchased an expensive Chef's knife and wouldn't touch it with another sharpener.

This will last me at least 5 years :). Pretty good value for the money.

Great quality and value
Well made and rubber/wood base make it easy to use almost on any surface. Brought several older knives to razor edge. Pay attention to instructions to soak entire stone in water before using.

Angle tool did not survive first use!
The stone seems to work well. The plastic angle tool supplied didn't even survive the first use. The ceramic bar (there are 4) fell off on first use, hit my wood table i was using and cracked in half!

Great product
Great whetstone. Does the job. Especially like the size to sharpen my larger knives.
