JET Universal Mobile Base (JMB-UMB)

The JET JMB-UMB Universal Mobile Base has been a fantastic addition to my workshop, offering both mobility and versatility for my heavy machinery and equipment. This mobile base has made moving my tools around the workshop a breeze and has truly transformed my workspace. One of the standout features of this mobile base is its adjustability. It can be easily expanded from 18" x 18" to 28" x 28", making it compatible with a wide range of tools and equipment. Whether I need to move my table saw, planer, or bandsaw, this mobile base can handle them all with ease. The build quality of the JET JMB-UMB is exceptional. It feels sturdy and robust, capable of supporting heavy loads up to 600 pounds. The solid construction gives me peace of mind knowing that my valuable tools are secure and stable while in motion. Setting up the mobile base was straightforward. The assembly process was well-documented, and all the necessary hardware was included. Once installed, the base glides smoothly on its heavy-duty casters, allowing me to effortlessly maneuver my tools across various floor surfaces. The foot-operated levers for raising and lowering the base are a thoughtful addition. They provide quick and convenient height adjustments, allowing me to position my tools at the desired working height without any hassle. The locking mechanism holds the base firmly in place, ensuring safety during operation. Another notable advantage of the JET JMB-UMB is its compact design. When not in use, the base tucks neatly under my machinery, taking up minimal space in my workshop. One small improvement I would suggest is adding rubber or non-skid padding to the base's contact points. Although the base is well-designed to protect floors from scratches, a little extra grip could enhance stability further. In conclusion, the base has been a game-changer in my workshop. This base is very easy to put together. NO tools are needed and is heavy duty and easy to roll around with a heavy tool on it. It has locking casters that are easy to use

My son and I just purchased a Jet 8" helical jointer which weighs in at over 350lbs. We ordered the universal base on cost and flexibility. It arrived before the jointer in its on packaging which was in good condition. putting it together was a breeze with the different prefabricated slots. Assembly works best with two people although one person can get it done, it's just a little finicky. There are four corners which have to be assembled by sliding the end of one corning into the open slot on the adjoining corner. Easy peasy until you add the last corner as it will bind if it is not in exact alignment with the opposing side. This was a little frustrating at first because the pieces fit so well together, you just have to work at it. Additionally, two of the casters are fixed and the other two swivel so make sure you have them aligned to match how you intend to move the equipment it will be supporting. All casters will lock and once done, the jointer is pretty much immovable. For heavy equipment or other similar things, I recommend this mobile base. It allows us to move the jointer around our workshop with ease.

This base was the easiest and quickest to assemble mobile base that I have ever used. Counting the unpacking time it was ready to be used in under 15 minutes. I am using the base for the Jet JWBS-15-3 15 " Bandsaw. It handles the weight very well and is still fairly easy to roll around the shop. It is also a very steady base when the saw is running as well. I noticed other reviews stating that their saw swayed but I didn't have that problem. Of course the Jet JWBS-15-3 weighs over 300 lbs, so that may be what keeps it steady. The only thing I would note is that this was my second shipment of this from Amazon. The first one was missing the side support bars. I believe someone simply removed them, resealed the box and returned it as if it was unused. I don't think it's right to hold Amazon or Jet responsible for that. Besides I had the replacement in less than 2 days and UPS picked up the return so the problem while a little inconvenient, really wasn't that big of a deal.

Well designed, works nicely. Best mobile base I have found. I usually buy the next heavier weight rating base for my recommended load. Weight ratings seem somewhat exaggerated.

So far so good, but I have to say I have a bad feeling that the welds that hold the wheel brackets to the frame will not stand the test of time. The wheels themselves could be a better grade and I would have spent an extra 25 bucks on them if they were. It does what it says it will do, move my 450 pound Jet Pro-shop table saw around. It was easy to assemble and came with clear instructions. I might buy another as my needs grow but my shop/garage doesn't. Before I bought this product I did look into building my own and of course alternative mobile bases. I decided it would not be worth the time and hassle to build my own with out access to a full metal shop. And as for the other bases, they rely on 2x4's or some drilling and mounting of mechanically complex wheel mechanisms. As we all know the fewer moving parts the longer the machine will last. No tool is perfect but this comes as close to it as I need. The easy assembly, mechanically simple and sturdy design, and relatively low price point, especially when compared with any D.I.Y solution, make this a good bargain. As for those welds, we'll see what time will tell.

A very well-built product and much easier to assemble and use compared to some of the other "universal" bases out there. This was sold as a bundle from Amazon with the flip table. Both assembled easily and were sturdy. Problem is, the base is too small for the workbench they're selling it with. I reached out to Jet in case I was crazy or had put one of them together incorrectly. They confirmed these two items are not compatible.

I love these mobile bases! I have three of them - one for my belt/disc sander; one for my router table; one for my scroll saw. As I have acquired each of these machines, I've researched all the other mobile bases I could find, but none (in my opinion) measures up to the Jet mobile base, at least for my needs. It's super easy to put together (no tools required); easy to adjust; maintains the power tool's position level and low to the floor; has two locking casters (locks are easy to activate and de-activate) and two swivel casters; and is relatively reasonably priced. Operation of the above machines does not put a lot of lateral force on the caster locks, though. I seem to have read one or more reviews where folks thought the locks didn't hold well enough when their particular machine was under use. Maybe that would be the case with a table saw or jointer, but I have had absolutely no problems with the holding power of the locks.
