I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did. I purchased it because it was on sale at a great price. It’s full of instructions and tips on baking. Many of the recipes have step-by-step instructions. And for those who like pictures there are plenty of those too. It is a very large and heavy book so be prepared.

King Arthur recipes are the best and this book walks you through baking with beautiful pictures and easily understood instructions. I showed it to my friend and he bought one! Can never go wrong with King Arthur!!

Great for a beginner wanting to up their baking game
I have attended two KA Baking School classes in person, so I was excited to order this book. First, these definitely are really the recipes they teach at their baking school. For the right baker, this is a great book. If you are an average home baker and you want to learn to make things a little more special (croissants, scones, fancier cakes and cookies), this is the perfect book for you. Key steps are illustrated and why you do each step is explained. You do need to read the whole chapter to get all the techniques that you might apply to the given recipes. Don’t just skip straight to the recipes. If you are actually an advanced home baker who really wants to level up your skills to approaching professional, you are better off purchasing Bread by Jeffery Hamelman or Advanced Bread and Pastry by Michael Saus. Both of these books are professional textbooks, where you must read extensive background information before you can even approach and understand the recipes. Baking School is the perfect book for people who are intermediate. People who want to actually learn techniques and skills, but who would be overwhelmed by the volume of information in Bread or Advanced Bread and Pastry.

I gave this book to our daughter for Christmas. She spent hours reading and excited to try some of the techniques in the book.

It has a good variety of recipes in it. The instructions could be a little better at times, but I imagine its a little difficult to write out some of the steps for the more complicated stuff. I also love the masters recipe at the end of each section, very fun!

Helpful Cookbook For All Stages of Home Bakers
King Arthur's Baking School cookbook is well written with understandable instructions and guidelines. They explain why doing it a certain way works better than another. I bought it because a friend and I are going to be taking a class at King Arthur's in September. I am not the world's best bread baker and thought it would be wise to get the book and better my skills before my class. I was so impressed with the book that I ordered another one for my friend attending the class with me. I hope you find it as helpful as well.

Book contains a lot of useful information. Recipes have many details on process, ingredients, tools. Its not another "cookbook" photo album. If you are beginner in baking, this could be good starting point for information. I did follow recipes and result was good, but you have to make adjustments to your local flour or yeast. Not all oven are the same. You need to keep that in mind and make your own adjustments. For some more advanced information I had google for videos. Overall it was good buy.

Strongly recommend for beginners in baking. Amazing book. Full of knowledge and useful tips. Almost makes your head blow up. And the recipes are delicious
