Ideal Large Artist Compass
I purchased the 16" version. It very adequate for laying out arcs for reference points in my paintings and geometry projects. I am pleased with the overall quality of this compass. It sturdily made and is robust at the hinge point. No wobble. The pencil mount is OK. The finish is adequate for its intended use. The two sharpened points on the legs are ideal for long divider measurements and will be handy in the wood shop with pencil removed. Having the 16" compass now is persuading me to get the 12" compass as well to fill in the middle ground between this quite large compass and standard draftsmen compasses found at office supply stores. My "accuracy" score of 4 stars is reflected only by the use of a standard pencil as the marking lead, and is only as accurate as the user. For my purposes it is very good.

Well made
I didn't realize just how big a 16" compass was, but I might add that this is very well made. It holds the setting very well and the tip is both sharp and hefty. I can also reason that the tip can be sharpened easily with a 1000 grit ceramic stone.

This Compass is Very Easy to Use and Accurate
I purchased this compass so that I could make full scale 22 inch diameter drawings of a composite flywheel I am designing in order to instruct the technicians who are building the flywheel in the location and orientation of the composite fibers. This project involved making numerous concentric circles on large sheets of vellum or bond paper with accurately spaced distance between each circle. I tried several other compasses with clip-on extensions and they proved too rickety to draw accurate large circles. This compass is exceedingly stiff and strong. Once you set the radius desired, it is not moving and the only inaccuracy is in how the pencil lead wears down. I tried to use a drawing pen but found that it was too sensitive to the angle of the compass arm with respect to the paper surface, and would skip irritatingly. As long as you keep your pencil sharp and tightly clamped in the holder, you can make as many large circles as you like with excellent accuracy.

12 inch Pencil Compass
The 12 inch Pencil Compass seems to be very well made. All the screws work well and are pretty snug. The arms are snug and work nicely. The only issue I have with this compass is that a standard size pencil will not fit in the hoop. I don’t really understand how this was overlooked.

Very sturdy device
I was surprised how sturdy this thing is. And having the locking screw makes sure the adjustment will not change.

Must need Crafting Aid
This compass works perfect for drafting your own stencils and or shaping mendela dot art. A very durable and well made product that offers ease of movement and variable size pencils, pens and painting accessories I'm very happy with this compass and recommend it to my fellow crafters.

These dividers are very nice
These dividers are just the ticket for drawing accurate circles. I use it with a mechanical pencil so it is easy to keep "sharp" and get good clean lines. The adjuster screw makes "dialing in" the perfect size circle very easy. This is a simple tool that is well built and easy to use. I highly recommend this compass.

Heavy duty but warped
Heavy duty compass BUT the arms are warped. The result is that when you tighten the knob the arms move out of alignment and the distance changes slightly.
