Chinese Medical Qigong

Good supplemental reference
I am a Licensed Acupuncturist who teaches Medical Qigong and find this text is an excellent resource and reference. There is some information here that I have not found in other English books. It is most effective if you already have a background in Qigong and Chinese Medicine since it assumes a certain level of knowledge. Not for real beginners. There are better resources for that.IMPORTANT NOTE - This is NOT the same as the paperback edition. This is the original and is over 250 pages longer. I originally bought the paperback edition because of its lower price but was frustrated when it was missing sections I needed. Check the table of contents in both editions to see the difference.

Vital reading for a Qigong practicioner
I'm studying to be a Qigong teacher so I picked this book up. It was extremely helpful. Keep in mind that this is in no way a complete picture of Qigong Science. It is more like the "official story." To get the full picture you will need the books of Dr. Yang.

Wonderful reference
This book gives a great history of the various forms of qi gong. It also describes many qi gong exercises. It is clear and a useful reference. I think it works best if you already have some background in TCM or medical qi gong so many concepts are not worrisome or tedious to figure out. If you have a basic knowledge, this is a great book. I appreciate all the study that went into the scholarship of this book.

Academic and Not Practical
Chinese Medical QiGong is an academic book on Chinese Medical QiGong useful for readers with an academic interest in QiGong but useless to those readers interested in the practice of Medical QiGong.I bought this book thinking that it will be an authoritative book on QiGong that would set the record right on Medical QiGong. But it turned out to be an academic, detached, and vague book that casts more shadow than light. It is a wordy assay on QiGong that lacks the necessary pictures to illustrate the Practical QiGong Methods.Difficult to understand how so many people took part in such a vague and poorly illustrated book.

Nor enough...
Not enough drawings or photos to explain the movements...Not enough exemples of forms... Major style of Qigong are not represented : Wudang, Yi Zhi Chan, Sui Xui Jing, Emei and so on...Not enough exemples of treatment are presented (Only twenty specific diseases !)Not enough consideration on Qigong theories (San bao - eight extra meridans etc...)Ressemble too much at a comiplation work of modern Qigong.A big book without enought food for the mind

Qigong is Great
I am half way through and it is one of the better books on Qigong so far. Well documented with an easy to read and understand writing style. I am happy I bought it.

Chinese Medical Qigong
An authoritative work. Well documented and cross referenced. Anyone involved with Medical Qigong or energy medicine should study it and have it as a reference work. If you are new to Qigong it will be a bit overwhelming. It is for those who are already attuned to this practice. I recommend it highly for the serious student.

Ottimo
Consigliato!
