It's great if its what you're looking for..
I got this for a 99 Wrangler. I just got the Jeep and the speakers in it were horrible. I wasn't looking for something spectacular but wanted a decent sounding setup while driving through the woods. Installation wasn't that hard. There were no instructions as others have already stated. But they aren't really needed. The wiring harness is labeled. There are 2 different brackets. If one set isn't right then use the other. The screws they supplied are about useless. I pulled my roll bar padding back and put some screw anchors I had into the holes in the roll bar. I used some screws that I had to basically hammer in. Threw on some gorrila tape as a reinforment to hold everything to the bars. Pulled the padding back over the best I could and zip tied it to stay. Not the prettiest install but it works. My jeep is to play in not enter a show. I was surprised at how it sounds. It's not a high end speaker setup, but sounds better than most cheap speakers I've encountered. If they ever blow or something I'll replace them with something better. The light is dim. Also in order to turn them on you have to reach back and push them on. I had hoped that they could be wired where they would come on with the other interior lights. Like when the knob is turned or doors opened. That may be a modification I do in the future. And add brighter bulbs. Overall I'm happy with the sound bar. I think it's a good deal for the price. If you're an audiophile and looking for an outstanding sound system, then this product isn't for you. If you are wanting a decent sounding system while riding around or playing off road, then this is a good choice. Another advantage to this is its mounted out of the way. It doesn't take up any usable space so you can still pack up like normal.

Great product
Great product, easy to install and wire up, put in in my 93 jeep yj. glad I didn't go with the negative reviews, dome lights are pretty dim. but nothing that changing to led bulbs won't fix. lots of reviews complaining about screws that mount unit to roll bar. they are NOT self drilling screws! You need to predrill the holes if you dont have self drilling screws. Drill 4 holes and they screw right in and hold securely. Sound quality is actually pretty good, using an aftermarket stereo and a jensen amp. all wires are clearly marked and harness plugged right into the sound bar. Harness is plenty long to go from the bar up the passenger side to under the dash to tie in to stock harness if that is the way you are mounting it. No instructions included, but its a pretty simple setup to figure it out. I would definately recomend this product am am satisfied with its performance.

Awesome rear speaker addition for Jeep Wrangler!
I had been looking for a solution for the lack of rear speakers in my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. I had seen several sound bar products, but like the idea of having switchable lights, as well as 6 speakers. I was willing to spend up to $200 for a quality setup. Fortunately, I was able to find the VDP sound bar on Amazon for ~$150 with tax. The product arrived right when we were hit with our coldest weather of the year, so I put off installing it for a few weeks. When I did get to installation time, the installation directions were no where to be found. (ugh) Fortunately, I easily found them online. (yeah!) Installation was fairly straight forward: pick the right bracket, install the sound bar, run the wires, and connect them to the appropriate speaker wires from the radio unit. A few issues though. First, the sheet metal screws they supplied didn't fit the holes in the roll bar. A quick fix I did was to utilize plastic wallboard inserts in the existing holes and, voila, I was up and installing again. Second, there were no zip ties supplied. A quick run to the local hardware store for some 11" black zip ties for the roll bar and 4" zip ties for under the dash wiring and I was set. Finally, there were no solderless connectors supplied in the installation kit. I picked these up from the hardware store with the zip ties. One small nit on the bracket install; one side had you run the bracket bolt through 2 layers of the fabric. The holes were small and didn't line up with each other (or the insert nut), but using a punch I widened the hole and aligned them before trying to install the bolts again. This was frustrating and probably where I spent the most time during the install. All in all, it sounds great, looks good, and was completely installed and working within 3 hours (including the trip to the hardware store). I would definitely recommend this product, just be aware of the extra items you will need to complete the installation.

Vertical Driven Sound Bar for A YJ Jeep
So first let’s begin with the packaging, well done, secure and protected quite well. Once I took it out looked good, no issues, now the instructions were not bad, pretty straightforward. The hardware, that’s where it kinda goes down from here, the self tapping screws they give you are horrible, soft metal and on a older YJ like mine they just basically wouldn’t hold. Luckily, you can get good self tapping screws at a reasonable price pretty much anywhere, but if that’s a way to keep costs down, not the way I would go. No one wants to have to stop installing and if you don’t have good self tappers, go to your local hardware store and buy them. Upgrade the screws please. Other then that, sound is great and handles off road well. One more thing, I had to mount over my cover of my roll bar, so again another reason to have to provide good screws.

Very Low Quality
This sound bar is not all bad. The casing is rigid and sturdy. The speaks sound ok, but mostly it is just because it is a jeep and it is so loud you can't really hear the audio clearly anyway. My main complaint was the quality of the installed components from the factory. My main problems were as follows. 1) the pins in the harness were bent from the factory, had to straighten before I could get them to fit. 2) I had to remove the speakers, as the whole left side wasn't working. I had read on other reviews that they were not hooked up. Thinking this was the case I removed the speakers to find that mine were hooked up, but the casing around the wire was completely destroyed. The copper wire was broken and hanging out. I ran a new wire and all was fixed. 3) the lights in the center are a tight fit. They do not turn on and off easily as they rub on the plastic trim around them. Had to remove the trim and shave material off of it to allow room for the lights to turn. 4) Lastly, there are threaded eyelets on the sides to allow for the brackets to be attached. 1 out of the four was ruined and I had to retap it before I could get the bolt in. Overall, if you are skilled in mechanics and can fabricate and repair things, this sound bar is a good casing for the money (with the knowledge that I will replace the speakers eventually). It looks really good in the Jeep and sits nicely on the roll bar. If you do not like to modify though, and/or do not have the skill to repair the low quality items then I would advise you pass on this one and buy something more expensive and higher quality.

Bought it for my daughters jeep...
I freaked out at first because there weren't any instructions. I just had to figure it out. It wasn't all that difficult. I only used one of the screws that came with it. They were really low quality (soft). Luckily I had some that would work in my shop. The sound quality is way better than what she had in there before (box speakers that I set up for her and put in the very back). I would recommend this product.

Great sound bar.
Great sound bar, this is installed with a cheaper Dual unit, but it works as intended. Bass is ok, but sound is good and you can hear it clearly on the highway. Added lighting is very helpful and works great.

Great improvement to the Jeep sound system
Mine came with upholstery which was nice, since some people said that it didn’t come with theirs. No instructions but its easy to install, wires are labeled. Speakers are pretty good. Did have an issue with the dome lights, easy fix “Black&Red” wires in the plug connectors didnt match. And the fuse on the Red Power wire was faulty just cut it out and wire it into something that has power with a fuse. Overall 4 out of 5.
