R&F Handmade Paints Encaustic Medium Bagged Paint, 1-Pound

Bought one bag of medium that was all stuck together so I couldn't use it in smaller quantities. The seller was prompt at exchanging it ( next day shipping), with this time a product that was easier to manage, so 5 star on customer service.About the medium: it melts rather fast since the crystals of medium are small. I'm new to encaustic painting, so I can't testify about any technical aspects of the medium. Light smell ( not sure about the ratio that was used betw. damar and beeswax).

Great product fast shipping

I love R & F encaustic materials. But, they can't control the various temperatures that their products endure during shipping. This pellet form is convenient because it is easy to pour out just the quantity that you need. However, it can soften in warm environments and stick to itself so it might arrive feeling like one hard block. I've found that putting the bag in a plastic container (I get big plastic ones at WallyWorld with large screw-on lids) and then into the freezer until it is frozen makes it brittle. I can then shake it, first releasing it from the paper bag that it comes in, removing the bag, and shake some more. Problem solved.

I want to learn encaustic so but don't have the cash to invest. I realized thought hat I love the look of clear wax on my mixed media work, and so I purchased this encaustic medium.I am so pleased that I did! I just use a small mini crock pot for melting, and I use this on my mixed media pieces. I love the looks that I can using either the medium by itself or mixed with pigments. I am still hankering for a real encaustic set, but this has been a great starting point for me. I was able to verify that wax is medium that really does hold interest for me without spending much money to find out!The product melts quickly (even in my little crock pot) and smoothly - excellent quality as all R&F products are.!

I have ordered this product several times and I’d like to be more satisfied. it doesn’t arrive as beads. All the beads are melted together and it’s difficult to remove from the package and work with this product because of this.After some inconvenience, it does work out well and I enjoy the outcome of using encaustic but I order this product because I need something that will pour out of the bag easily and can be measured

I had taken a workshop with a R&F artist and got the chance to use all their products. You could mix your own, but I didn't want to deal with that - so this is really easy. The small bags are easy to store. They are expensive - but you're paying for the convenience. I've found the R&F to be a harder surface than Evans - and each has it's own benefits.

This is a great product, easy to use too but expensive and this time, the package was broken inside the packing bag so spilled all over inside. Seller, please pack more carefully next time.
