Micro-Mark Replacement Wire for #82104 Hot Wire Foam Cutter, .010 Inch Dia.x 4' Long

I ordered this wire for my hot wire foam cutter and it works great. For some reason I can’t find this product in stores so I order it online.

Nothing wrong with the wire. Great tensile strength. I could not get my home made cutter to work with 9V set up. Not the wire's fault.

I bought this wire for a homemade foam cutter and it worked great. Nice clean cuts and heated up well and cooled off fast. Used it in about a one foot length with a 12VDC 2A power supply with no issues. Tried it on an 18VDC 6.5A power supply and it really got hot but worked just as well with no issues. Just do your math and figure out how much resistance your particular wire and length will be and how much wattage your PS will handle and go from there.

Product worked as advertised

Product is great and as advertised. Packaging is absurd! Definite overkill! Almost lost a couple of the little pieces and damage the tool trying to open the thing. The plastic was way stronger than needed. . .and RIVETS to anchor the plastic? REALLY?!?!? Not needed at all!!

Don't expect the foam to evaporate in a puff of smoke before this cutting wire! You have to drag it through with an effort. In general the device is underpowered and the wire tends to break because of the effort required.

This may seem like a lot of wire, but if your hot wire Styrofoam cutter is properly used and maintained, this length of wire will last forever. You don't need a lot at one time, and if you cut fairly slowly, it won't break quickly. This is a much better value than it appears on the surface.
