This is a nice sturdy and short single extension cable that's just perfect to get a power socket through the letterbox. Why do I need to do that? Just in case I need to use a granny charger for my EV! ***Only running the granny charger at 6A or 8A continuous. It's not that I don't trust the cable, it's just that I'd rather not be running 10A or 13A continuous though any socket on the house ring main!

I needed a >= 50cm extension cable, to power my new Ninja double-stack airfryer, from the nearest socket in the kitchen. YES! I KNOW! it says in the Ninja's instructions that you are NOT supposed to use an extension cable, but what am I supposed to do? Either remodel the kitchen or toss the Ninja in the bin. Not gonna happen - I'm an electronics engineer, and I alone shall decide what's electrically safe or not. I digress, but Ninja really should have sprung for an extra 50cm of cable on a 200 quid appliance. This little 1m extension is nice in that it has moulded plugs and a very flat profile mains plug. However, the measly 1mm^2 cable is not sufficient to carry anywhere near 3kW continuously. With both halves of the airfryer heating (2.4kW), the cable gets noticeably 'warm' to the touch, and the back of the plugtop also. I haven't measured it with my IR thermometer, but it's probably 40-45ºC. I've satisfied myself that it's not a fire risk, since once the fryer has reached its set temperature, it's no longer 2.4kW continuous. Probably half that, average.
