The Eternal Church: A Prophetic Look at the Church-Her History, Restoration, and Destiny

This is a superb read. Dr. Hamon unveils the hidden truth about our traditional churches. Personally, my eyes where opened. I attend one of the largest denominational churches in America and this book both saddens me, but also enlightens me to the knowledge of the tempering of truth to the benefit of the traditional church. This book brings alive God’s plan for His true church, and the long history since its inception to alter that plan.

This is a great history of the Church. It summarizes everything from Pentecost in Acts 2 all the way to current day. And the insights are important and necessary for all the Body of Christ. However, I do feel like there were a few bones that need to be spit out. Perhaps that’s because this book is now almost 20 years old, so perhaps that’s because some of the thinking is a bit outdated. Also, there was some information given that seemed to only be there to endorse certain names and really had nothing further to say to the overall message. Still, I do believe the overall message is imperative for the Church to grasp today!

By far the best book I have ever read about the Church of Christ. My eyes were open to see the big picture of God's plan for Christ and the Church. Our vision has been limited by our denominations or by a religious mindset and this book helps to break that, if the person is willing to see outside of their denomination and/or upbringing. For him/her that have ears to hear, let him/her hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Our destiny is bigger than what I thought previously, and this book helped me to see that.

This was extremely well researched yet readable. A little long winded, but thorough. The history of the first 1800 years of the church are well researched and and well thought out with great insight. Dr. Hamon is of course a great proponent of "present truth" churches and his reporting of restorations in the last 125 years reflect that belief. A lot of his discussions of the last 65 years are his own personal experience of the changes God has brought to the church during that time. I learned a lot from this book.

I have not quite finished reading this yet, but I have to post now.It has taken me several months to read through, because the amount of revelation in it is so awesome.If you like history, you will gain such insight into where we have been as the Church of Jesus Christ, how we failed and how God is restoring us to the full stature of Christ.The most enlightening part has been the future destination of this Body.My spirit has been edified, encouraged and I have experienced a change in perspective about the coming move of God.I only recommend this for the spiritually mature and those who truly have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.

I didn't think the book was necessarily well written, but the information he presents is essential. We keep waiting for the Falling Away, but that was the Dark Ages. Since Martin Luther God has been restoring the church. He chronicles this restoration and then describes the purpose and future of the Bride. It is a glorious future worth contending for.I gave it 4 stars because of the quality of the writing. The information presented by the end warrants a 5.

Every believer should read this book and received the revelation that Bill Hammond shares with the body of Christ about its history and coming movements towards the fulfillment of all of God's promises to creation. Now I will go back and study it in depth.

I thought that the previous edition was essential to understand the work of the Holy Spirit in church history. This new edition is an important update.
