It's great for the price!
Very easy to grow, I got this just to see if my kitten would like it without spending alot of money, she loves it and my puppy. I ended up taping it down because of it being lightweight, she likes rubbing her face in it. Also I mixed is a little bit of potting soil so the grass does not get pulled up .

The "soil" granules do not retain roots when cats try eating grass. Number of sprouts is low. Mold
Pictured are the sprouts at 11 days, including 3-4 days when kept out of direct light and moist until sprouts appeared, then 8 more days under a grow lamp while keeping the "soil" medium moist. (This is an odd type of "soil", some formed pellets they simply refer to as "granules".) As you can see, some of the sprouts are doing very well, reaching up to 4 inches. However, when compared with a similar product, the number of sprouts is less than 50% of the competitor's product. There may be more yet to emerge, but so far it isn't looking like a great buy.The second problem, much worse, is that the grass is not retained by the granules when the cats try to eat. Today was the 11th day since they were first watered, and the instructions say it is OK to feed to the cats when the grass is 2 - 4" tall, I did, but the cats could not bite and tear off the grass, since the sprout germ is pulled out of the granules. I circled two such grass seed germs in red in the second picture, and you can see the whitish roots that were pulled up by the cat, who gave up trying to eat them. A competitor's product came with organic soil that was dense enough to retain the sprouted germs and roots, with almost no pullout noted, and the whole container was completely full of sprouts, unlike this one. With this product's granules, I am concerned that the roots will not be able to develop enough resistance to allow the cats to feed properly. If this doesn't improve in several days, I will have to request a refund. If you decide to order this product, you might consider adding about 1/4" of vegetable potting soil on top of the granules and water it down the first time of use. Maybe that would help anchor the grass roots and prevent cats from pulling them up, which will kill the grass prematurely.UPDATE 2 DAYS LATER: This is a poor product due to the granules not retaining the grass roots when cats try to eat the grass. I can also smell a nasty odor of what may be manure in the product, and it now has a 1/2" dia. mold or other fungus growing on the surface of the granules.I have gone through the return process for a refund and will buy a proven, safe product.

Cat likes it! Helps with dreaded hairballs!
Just the right size for small Persian type lady, very prone to hairballs! Adding grass to her other foods and hairball remedies has helped a lot! Takes 3-4 days at a minimum to germinate, Read and follow THESE directions, keep it moist at all times, a soft water spray is nice, too! Try not to tip the little dish before you open it, the medium will shift and dislodge seeds. After grass is 2-3 inches high, you can use one of those special multi blade scissors one might use for cutting chives, etc. to snip off a pinch or two of grass blades! Hold grass cup at 90 degree angle and let clippings fall on a plate, mix in food! Watch you don't spill the growing medium.1

If you follow the directions it will grow in exactly the time given and will be nice and full.
My cat wouldn’t touch this grass except to drag the container around a little bit. So all I can say is that I followed the directions and it grew nicely and looked great. Mountie the Siamese is VERY picky so I don’t think that the grass is at fault—he did the same thing with some different cat food—appeared to think I was trying to poison him.

-1 star because she can easily upend the plastic tub as it's so light
I set it up in the window box in the kitchen and it grew in the time promised in the instructions. My cat smelled it once it sprouted and tried to get up there to eat it, so I had to move the kit outside. She really enjoys the grass. -1 star because she can easily upend the plastic tub as it's so light.

The single cat package did not germinate properly
I have used the multi Cat pack of Cat-About and I loved it, but since I only have one indoor cat, I decided to order the single cat issue..... a mistake! The single cat product did not germinate properly and what I got was about 4 blades of grass--- and not sturdy enough for a cat to chew on -- They promptly came out of the planting medium! My poor cat is suffering and I am on the phone to Amazon to see about a replacement with the multiple grass pack!
