Dorman 911-603 Vacuum Switching Valve Compatible with Select Toyota Models , Black

I bought this to replace the vacuum Switching Valve for evaporative emission control (VSV for EVAP) on my 1998 Toyota Sienna. The old one had cracked from old age. I bought this part even though I knew that this switch is not made for my 1998 Sienna and it would not be a like-for-like replacement. The difference from the original Toyota Sienna part is in the mounting bracket which does not line up with the screw hole for proper installation. The rest, the electrical connection and the switching functionality is the same. I used three plastic electrical cable ties to secure it in place. It is not going anywhere. My engine error code has now cleared. I am happy.Some reviewers complained because it did not fit their car or it did not solve the problem. On my car there are two VSV switches associated with the evaporative emissions system. The engine error code could be caused my malfunctioning of one of vacuum switches, evaporative pressure sensor, or the charcoal canister itself. On my 1999 Camry, I had to replace the whole canister and VSV assembly. You have to identify which one to replace, and then buy the correct part that fit your car. I usually check the part visually from the picture and then check the manufacturer web site for cross referencing with the OEM part number. I do not think it is fair to complain after buying the wrong part or replacing the wrong part.You can remove a suspect vacuum switch and test it. Connect 12 volt DC power from your battery to the pins inside the connector (on the switch). If you hear a clicking sound as you connect and disconnect, the switch is most probably good.Note: for older cars, the vacuum hoses may have hardened and you may not be able to reuse them. My family has two cars that are older than 10 years and I keep a silicone vacuum hose kit in my garage. Hose sizes 3.5mm, 6.0 mm, and 10.0mm seem to cover all my vacuum hose needs for my car. The kit I bought is sold on Amazon by a company called Verocious and has an Item ID: HVMIN-KIT-BLK.

I purchased this valve because I kept get emissions systems and incorrect purge flow codes in my car. I thought this was a great product for the price. Easy to install. It worked well for the first couple months with no issues. After three months I started to get the same codes again that I had prior to the installation of this product. Safe to say, that I ended up returning this valve and paid the extra $30 for an OEM valve. I don’t recommend getting a Dorman valve. Pay the extra money and get an OEM part!

I tested it with wires to my 12 volt battery (used online testing diagram,) and a short vacuum line to blow into one of the openings. Secured small wire clips and at battery. Heard the valve movement, and was able to blow air through from on connection to the other. Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable before install. I found an online video how to install the VSV for EVAP, but had to remove more components to use an 8mm wrench to secure the nut on the bolt. Yes, it did function on my vehicle and in idle, after turning on the air conditioning, it idled up when the ac compressor came on, like from 750 rpm to 775.

Cheap Fix !!The CEL had been on since we purchased the truck..5+ years ago.I had taken it several places....replaced several parts (expensive parts)Only to have the cel light return within 100 miles of driving.I gave up after a couple years and random parts replacement..Well.... It continued to aggravate me.I purchased this valve (although it doesn't show up as being the proper one) for approx. 25.00Toyota wanted 70-100.00 for their version. Well, as it turns out.. This was an exact fit .... Yes exact.....and had this not fixed the issue....I may have choked..and purchased Toyotas version.But...... Its been several 100 miles...And the light has not returned !!I hope this helps someone else. As I know it aggravated me for yearsCheeers to Dorman on this one !!!

I was looking for a VSV for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma 2WD pickup truck. I saw another reviewer say that this was a perfect fit in a similar vehicle even though Amazon's car parts matcher says that it is not. It is the case with my car, too. It fit EXACTLY perfectly in my truck. It seems well-built from durable plastic and attaches easily to the mount in the truck. I originally bought this in hopes that it would turn off the check engine light, but it is still on after several months, so the search continues for the root of the problem.

Easy to install. Part was to correct a “ck engine” light coming on. “Ck engine” light reset after part installed. Hasn’t come back on, for now.

This part is failing me in about a month time, I hope I can get it replaced. It is making a clicking noise, and threw the check engine light code p0441 again. It was fixed and worked perfectly when first installed, but like I said in a month it crapped out. I do not recommend. Hopefully their customer support is good. In less than 10 minutes customer support has sent a new one! WOW! I love shopping at Amazon!!

It is almost identical to Toyota original part, the car computer accept this valve without any problem, I hope it last at least for 3 years.

Used in 2000 Toyota Camry. Appears to be an exact replacement for factory part. Fits perfectly, installed in 5 minutes using 8 mm wrench. No issues from car's computers, car idles smooth now.
