Relaxing and Wonderful
Now that I've slept on this pillow for a few nights, I feel that I can give an honest review about it! This pillow is magical. If you are unfamiliar with this type of pillow and/or have never experienced one before, there may be a bit of a learning curve or some discomfort at first. However, don't give up right away! I'd honestly give it your best go, at least a week, before making a definitive decision. The pillow is satisfyingly weighty. When adjusting the pillow and moving it around, it sounds a bit like a rainstick. I have a preference for flat pillows and this pillow is wonderfully flat. However, the buckwheat hulls inside can be manipulated into the shape that you prefer. For example, if you need extra neck support, you can push the hulls near the bottom of the pillow into a tube-like shape for added neck support. What I like about this buckwheat hull pillow is that once you manipulate the hulls where you want them, they tend to stay where they are. This means that you will have the desired support where you need it until you decide to manipulate its shape into something else. You don't have to worry about it becoming misshapen. Also, you can adjust the amount of buckwheat hulls inside the pillow by adding or removing hulls, therefore adjusting the firmness and flatness of the pillow. I found that the amount of hulls it came with was perfect. It really is great for your cervical spine and sleeping posture. Also, buckwheat hulls have antimicrobial properties. I highly recommend this pillow!

Finally Found The Perfect Pillow! Even Better with Simple Modification
I have tried every pillow on the planet! None were great for long. I had a whiplash injury and subsequent neurosurgery on my neck years ago. I have struggled to find a pillow that gave me adequate neck support, and I would frequently wake up with hand numbness. After reading mixed reviews on buckwheat pillows, I decided to try one. I had nothing to lose except for a good night's sleep, which was already happening anyway. I was overjoyed to discover that this is the pillow that I have spent years looking for! This pillow weighs a lot and is very firm, which wasn't an issue for me. It doesn't put too much pressure on my ear when I lay on my side. It gives exceptional neck support which is so hard to find. The buckwheat rustling noise isn't that bad. I like that this pillow doesn't hold heat like foam pillows do. I love the fact that the hull volume is adjustable. I ordered the standard size, since I move around a lot. I am a side sleeper and I found that I would have to gather the pillow up in order to get the height that I need. I contacted the company and requested more hulls, so that I could increase the volume of my pillow. I got rapid response from customer service and they shipped me more hulls without charge. I am so happy with my pillow. I am glad that I took the chance to try something different. It isn't a cushy pillow, but is is super supportive, and it works well for me.Edit: I have found a way to make the perfect pillow even better! Add a buckwheat neck pillow to the pillowcase along with the standard lofe buckwheat pillow. This allows customized levels of support for both my head and neck. I can now have firmer neck support and softer head cushioning. It is the best of both worlds. I did have to remove hulls from both pillows in order to get the right level of support and comfort. I toss and turn a lot at night, and the neck pillow provides consistent support without the need to readjust my larger pillow. It has always been a tradeoff, having to settle for a firmer pillow in order to have the neck support that I require. Now I can have it all!

Good quality pillow!
This is my first buckwheat pillow and after one night I noticed my neck pain was a little better.I've been struggling with tossing and turning all night because of my pain. Shoulder, neck, elbow and literally my entire upper bone structure.I started reading about this type of pillow and decided to hold off on getting a new mattress and trying this pillow first. The pillow cover is really nice, you can tell it is made well. The zipper tucks into a little pocket nicely to keep it from opening tol easily. I decided to dump out about a quarter of the buckwheat to make the pillow a little flatter. The first night was an adjustment but I fell asleep quickly and noticed when I woke up in the middle of the night my neck didn't hurt like it usually does. I think I woke up just because of the noise the pillow makes if you move. I didn't care about that and knew I would quickly get used to it.I slept the second night on the pillow again but did notice a little headache when I woke up the next morning. I decided to take out another quarter of the buckwheat to make it flatter to see if that made a difference. The next morning I felt pretty good, less pain. But I feel like once the buckwheat forms to you it feels pretty hard. But it's soooo supportive I needed to stick with it. I do also think it made me feel a little hot so I thought about what I could do to help those things and decided to buy a very flat (I think 1" thick) memory foam cooling pillow insert. It worked perfectly! Cool, comfy but still had the support. I did need to take out a good ount of the buckwheat to make up for that extra inch of foam. I do also use my silk pillowcase with it so that is cooling as well.It felt great last night and I am hoping this is the perfect combination!I don't notice much of a smell, nothing that would ever bother me. I did read that some people are bothered by it and I will say I am extremely sensitive to smells. It is heavy and I got the smaller size. I didn't like that it wasn't the size of a regular pillow but I did get used to that. I think I will be ok with the smaller size.If you have any type of cervical issues this could be the answer! I'll update soon how I am doing with it!
