Exceptionally good device.
This little device is absolutely excellent. Out of the box and installed and working in less than 15 minutes. I have an access box below my main circuit breaker box so I didn't even have to get near hot electricity. I simply put one clamp around each feed wire and paired the device and I was done. Our house at night with all non essentials off and the refrigerator not running consumes 160 watts per hour. Most everything in our house is on a power strip such as the TV entertainment center microwave coffee machine computers printers and anything else that uses power when it's actually turned off is on a power strip and in the off position when not in use. it is amazing how much electricity is used when you combine all these things and they're actually in the off position. That being said we now have a baseline of 160 Watts and now comes the various tests. We turned on the kitchen lights which consists of 6/8 watt light bulbs. and sure enough this device registered the increase of 48 watts very quickly and accurately. We then added and subtracted various known watt consumption items and this device continued to quickly and accurately display usage. And I must agree with most others the clothes dryer machine is a extremely wat thirsty device. Using this device you can clearly understand your usage and make significant changes to greatly reduce power usage. Many people use things such as QuickBooks to monitor their financial flow and this device is very much the same thing because electricity is money. Range on this wireless device has excellent as my distance is approximately 60 ft through 3 walls also since it operates in the 433 megahertz range it does not interfere with any other wireless devices that I have.Strongly recommend if you'd like to really understand hear usage and electrical waste.

Effective Power Monitor
The Efergy E2 Wireless Electricity Monitor is a tremendously useful device, easy to install. Clip the two sensors over the two incoming 240-volt lines feeding your breaker panel, plug the sensors' output lines into the provided transmitter, push the LINK buttons, and the transmitter is wirelessly connected to the portable display unit. The robust wireless link operates at 433.5 MHz and will not suffer interference from cordless phones or WiFi networks. The display unit is updated every 10 seconds. It shows the instantaneous power in kW, and the average daily energy consumption in kWh for the current, and each of the previous seven days. Other informative historical data are also stored in the device and can be displayed readily. When set to display the instantaneous power, it is useful to walk through the house, display unit in hand, as you turn lights and appliances on and off. It's quite an eye opener. (Five stars so far.)The company also provides software for Macs and PCs. After reading the literature, and after contacting the vendor, it wasn't at all clear to me how the data get to the computer, but it became obvious once the equipment arrived: there was a USB cable included that plugs into the back of the display unit and into one of the computer's USB ports. There was no software disc included, instead a link to the company's website was provided. Things now became confusing with the software links buried in advertising. To make a long story short, one claimed Mac link downloaded the PC version, but ultimately, after major fiddling, the proper software was installed successfully. I would recommend that the company appoint an individual to sit beside a newbie as he attempts to follow the installation instructions. This way the major potholes (sink holes) in the instruction manual would become obvious and could be paved over. The Mac software v2.2 (I can't comment on the PC version) appears to be quite solid and informative and provides a valuable adjunct to the handheld display. It is NOT required if you are happy with the information provided by the display unit. All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. The unnecessarily-frustrating software fiddling cost the company one star in my evaluation.

Defective display
I have had this for a little more than 1 month now. The unit worked fine at the beginning. Almost about a month of usage, the display stopped showing the decimal point .. I tried resetting it by taking off the batteries but that did not help. Too bad that I have not reported this within the 1-month return window. I am now stuck with an expensive monitoring device with defective display

Works great but...
Purchased the monitor to track our power usage. Installation was very simple - just install the batteries, clip two wires to your service panel, mount the transmitter and you're done. Note: unlike similar devices, this unit does read from both lines not just one - so it is very accurate. From the display you can monitor instant usage updated every 10, 15 or 20 seconds (you choose). It also displays totals for the hour, day, week, month and energy cost. I was very pleased until I tried to install the software to download the data onto my computer and discovered that it is compatible only with Vista and Windows 7. As of now there is nothing for Windows 8. Even so - this is a great tool to monitor and save on your electric usage.

Efergy E2 Monitor
The product was easy to install and set up. However, the software is very weak. One expects to use this device to analyze usage in interesting ways. It does some of that, but it is very clunky. The display unit frequently loses signal from the sender, but it's not easy to know how many samples were missed and for how long. Overall, it has given me a little better insight into our energy usage, but high cost for the feature.
