Great read for the Gilded Age-phile
I am obsessed with the Vanderbilts. Didn’t know any of them were the woodsy type so this was a pleasant surprise and new layer to the fam.

Good history to remember
I started reading a number of Ralph Kylloe books and this came up as a similar recommendation from Amazon. I have enjoyed it a lot. Was unfamiliar with Camp Sagamore before reading, very good. It you enjoy reading about the "Camps" in the Adirondacks from the past, will ben an enjoyable read.

Worth reading
Excellent account of Great Camp Sagamore, as well as historical information about many of the wealthy families that visited the Adirondack Mountains.

so it was fun to read the history of it
I've been to the camp, so it was fun to read the history of it, and to learn more about how it was built.

Just OK
This was just an average book on the Adirondacks and the Great Camps. I found that it is very scattered in presentation and jumps around a lot. More of a casual read with some interesting history. Probably would not purchase if I had realized how it reads. It is like a cross between a gift shop informational book for tourists and a very long magazine article. It almost seemed like multiple authors wrote each chapter and even within a chapter. Overall, the book seemed rushed and bland.
