Q: If i'm a 'medium' according to the size chart provided (5'7" and ~125 lb.), but wear an unusually large shoe size, 13w, should i order a large?

All I can say is that I find that these stockings run a little short so depending on your skirt length either a M or L may be right

Q: Is the tan actually tan or is it more of a "nude?"

It's a little tan but not dark beige though - they used to make a darker shade but I can't find that now

Q: Are the toe sheer or reinforced?

The stockings are totally sheer, however if you look close you can see that the toe does have some reinforcement. The toe is sheer enough to wear with dress sanders.

Q: do they stay up without a garter belt?

Absolutely not - you will be in trouble without a good garter belt
