Best little submarine toy around!
Ok, some online reviewers dislike that this submarine will sink when using certain longer lasting batteries (which are by design, heavier), and it does indeed without even installing the four screws underneath that are meant to be used as weights or counterweights to control buoyancy. It does barely sink though, and I am sure that cheaper batteries will permit the submarine to float better for fresh water as some users have reported, chances are you will need to counterweights for salt water though, ergo the design is almost perfect to use for it's main target, aquariums both fresh and salt water. I stuck a few small pieces of styrofoam into the smaller side vents (there are two per side), and even needed a piece in front of the diving propeller trapped by the removable grill beneath without blocking much of the water flow. This approach accomplished two things, one, perfect buoyancy so that the sub barely floats back to the surface allowing for full control, and two, it reduces slightly the upwards flow to dive, meaning the behavior of the sub is slower, giving it even much more stability for video shooting. I doubt it will respond to infrared control in a 6 feet deep pool, but I'll test it when I get the chance and update this review. Perhaps the best part is it's "marine research" design, making it a slow moving submarine by design, instead of a fast moving war machine. Truth be told, I stopped the filtration in my 10 gallons infirmary aquarium when I tested it there to prevent currents slamming it around, decorations allowed very little room if any to move around, and even in such a small restrictive environment, a cool video was the result. Again, I will update later with actual video and pictures taken from the sub.

It doesn't work.
First of all, the instructions are all in Japanese. Had to follow the pictures and lookup for videos online to see how to make it work properly. Once in the water it literally lasted less than one minute, a few spins then it sunk and bye-bye sub! Propellers stopped moving and that's it. No way to contact the seller for any kind of assistance or replacement.

Sea Peep Submarine with camera: lack of correct information!
Most important aspect: the buoyancy of the submarine is critically linked to the 2 installed batteries. With non-rechargeable batteries it mostly floats, with NiMH rechargeable batteries it mostly SINKS. This should be mentioned before! I attached a syringe with a variable air volume to provide extra buoyancy with NiMH batteries. Not very nice, but this way the submarine is useable...

Awesome RC Submarine Camera
The media could not be loaded. I will be back to post pictures from the sub POV camera. Needless to say I am very happy with this toy. It's a micro sized remote control underwater submarine with a camera. It can rise, sink, rotate left and right, go forward and backward, and remains horizontal. It has two powerful LED lights for operation in the dark. It can take still pictures in JPG format and about 15 minutes of VGA quality movie (in AVI format). The instructions are entirely in Japanese! Isn't that wonderful? The controller uses LED lights to transmit signal to the ROV. Unfortunately, the ROV can not transmit video back, which is something that would be greatly desired. Also, being LED driven, the controller has a limited range of about 2 meters. Which is perfect for fish tanks and koi ponds. If you are a fish freak and just have to have a fish point-of-view, this is the ultimate tank accessory.I think it's an amazing time we live in when one can think up an idea, look for it on Amazon, and guess what, if it exists, it ships, haha. I didn't have to build it (I would have if necessary). So, manufacturers, if you're listening, upgrade this thing! Add radio transmitter, FPV camera functionality. Wouldn't be that hard and would improve it tremendously.

Major disappointment.
Very slow, range is only 3-4’ of remote. Not suitable for anything beyond a bathtub. No English instructions.

If you want to go get take out I don’t recommend it.
I cannot fit in it!!!!!!!! I thought drive it to my local store.

Ships from Japan
A bit pricey, but it did ship international from Japan without any hiccups other than it takes a couple of weeks to get to the US. My 9 year old son found this on Amazon and watched some youtube videos on it, and he was convinced it was worth it to him for the underwater camera by remote control. It's popular for viewing fish tanks from the inside. I wish it was more like $60 than $90, but I think the price is paying for the international shipping. He did get it set up and running really quickly and figured out the controls in 1 minute, but if you have any trouble with it not being in English, check out Youtube Videos where other owners have posted translations.
