Old Fashion's are a favorite, but I could never make it taste as good at home as it does when I order it out-until a very kind and wonderful bartender shared her recipe. This is the secret ingredient that I was missing!Now I can make it at home! You must try it!

I purchased this for my husband because he loves old fashions. This syrup definitely makes a delicious cocktail! I would highly recommend.

I received an 8oz (237ml) bottle as shown in the product page photos. Oleo saccharum ('oil-sugar' in Latin) syrup is made by using sugar to extract the oils in citrus fruit peels. This version uses both lemon and orange peels and adds lemongrass, toasted green cardamom and ginger. This mix sounded like something I’d enjoy. I was right but I would probably prefer more cardamom in the mix. This transformed rum and water into a sweeter, citrusy cocktail with subtle notes of lemongrass and ginger in the aroma. It comes with several cocktail recipes, but it would be nice if there were more recipes for use extending beyond cocktails. If you like mixed drinks and Eastern spices, this is a convenient way to mix a cocktail without having a number of ingredients on hand.

Made a mint julep with a small amount of this and it had one of the best flavors! Not quite a purist to try something new. I usually grow my own mint and make my own syrup but tried this and the Verbena intrigued me. The price was a little high but for a super original flavor I wouldn't hesitate to get it again!

I like Demerara sugar syrups, but the spice level in this one turned me off. It can be tamed by using half simple syrup and half Cocktail and Sons. I've tried different bitters to alter the spice effect and found that Scappy's Orleans Bitters and Peychauds 2 dashes each seems to help.

Demerara is a sugar that is unrefined and has a spice note similar to molasses. Using this spiced demerara in an old fashioned instead of a white sugar cube compliments the amazing whiskeys available today. Garnish with a proper Maraschino cherry (not the electric red options) and you have the Best Old Fashioned. Cheers!

Definitely not as strong and flavorful as home made. Expected better for the price
