Changed their formula
The first time I bought this product was in 2021, and it was great. My clothes always smelled fresh no longer how long after I washed them before wearing them. Since they've changed the formula, it seems like an ingredient they now use causes a weird smell in my clothes after a while. Will not be purchasing again, as I don't find it worth the expensive price any longer.

Update (11/2023) Love the smell. Don’t love the packaging. Really don’t love how quick it goes…
Ok. Here’s the thing. I’m a former Laundress junky. Also, I’m doing laundry constantly because I’m a clean freak. I also like things to smell nice. Clean, but not overpowering. Pleasant, but mindful.I also use 5 different laundry soaps depending on fabric, care, use, and location. You see, my guest rooms need to be comfortable for guests. This means I don’t use scents as much as possible so as not to offend anyone’s senses. But I also want things to smell fresh, even after an extended period of time in limbo (time between guests). Then there’s the clean factor: I need to be sure things are super clean from guest to guest and confident in that. (I guess some would call this a “Type A personality”. I call it “the least I can do”. I.e.; I use towels I can bleach for my guests, and linen or bamboo sheets that are naturally anti-microbial, and I wash the down duvets every 3 months, etc., etc.. These things I mentioned typically require different products to wash them.On a positive note, I found that this Laundry Soap works great on my Turkish towels, my linen and bamboo sheets, and my regular clothing laundry (jeans, sweats, casual shirts). The scent is full on when you pump it, and a nice side effect while doing laundry is it’s like a room diffuser while the washing is going. After the wash, the smell is faint, and lovely, but not overwhelming in the slightest. It does last longer when hang drying items, but if it started at a 7 while in the wash, by the time it’s come out of the dryer it’s at a 2.On a negative, the amount it touts for loads it will do from that bottle - I’m not so sure how they got there, but if you follow the directions, there is just no way. 4 to 5 pumps per load…it hasn’t come close. 30-35 loads perhaps. 50? Sure, if you didn’t follow their recommendation and did 3 pumps for a load, then yes.And the pump. Ugh. Why? So many reasons not to do this with thick, ‘syrupy’, soap. And at this price point, every drop counts - waste not, want not and all that.Cleanliness seems on par with most other soaps, so nothing to yell about either way. Items haven’t shown any lean to pilling or not pilling after using this product, and no running of colors or change in softness or drying capability either. I will say that if you leave the clothing in the washing machine for anything more than 30 minutes after it has finished, that lovely scent fades to almost nothing. My take? It’s a pleasant scent for the laundry room while doing laundry. It’s not special in any other way. The “concentrated” bit is arguable. But it doesn’t harm clothing, and when hung dry, it leaves a very nice light scent that is non-gender and nature oriented. Solid, as long as you have the budget for it.Addendum (11/2023): reaching the 'end' of the bottle was even more frustrating with their use of the pumps. Quite a bit of this liquid gold (because of the price per ounce) is lurking around in the bottom of the bottle, unable to come out and shine because of the inability for the pump to reach it. The count for how many loads it did came out even worse than originally scored. I dropped down to 3 pumps for med/large loads, and 2 pumps with a bit of scent booster for small loads, and I definitely only got 28-30 loads (not sure how much is actually floating around in the bottom, 'unpumpable', but I'm guessing not 20 loads worth. What really gets me is that the company touts environmentally friendly all over the place. On their website, on their Amazon site, ... But they don't sell refill pouches?!?!?!?!? I don't need countless plastic bottles and horrible pumps every time I have to order more product (which is far more than they would suggest as discussed). Further disappointment I'm afraid. Still love the scent, but it's starting to feel like that's all I love.

New formula, huge disappointment
We fell in love with FREY pre-pandemic just to give you an idea of how long we have used this product. I’ll never forget the first time we smelled the cedarwood detergent. We wanted to roll in it… and did a load of bedding to do just that. For years we bought the detergent and spray and it was literally our main scent signature. But now they changed the whole thing and the faint scent it does have smells nothing like the original. “Disappointed” isn’t a strong enough word. What’s the point of spending so much on laundry detergent if it doesn’t smell like the gods made it just for you?

The literal best smelling thing that has ever happened to a nose
I saw that there was a free sample and it was a non detergent smelling type of deal. I use scentless usually because the smell of All, Tide, Cheer and all those are so weird smelling. I don't want to smell like a load of laundry bro.I don't usually use scented anything, lotions rarely, and especially not deodorant. I was intrigued by a nonconventional scented soap and the sample was literally a dollar. When it came I was very excited to wash clothes with it when I popped the bottle open. It smells like mixes of the good kind of essential oils, oaky, cedary and much like a clean cabin with a fireplace and tons of fir trees around, and a bit of a sweet scent, hidden deep inside. The laundry, dude...I smelled it and inhaled it until the smell actually went away and I was unable to smell it anymore. It filled the stairway with the scent, and when I brought the dry basket upstairs, my living room was scented with this amazing smell, not overpowering at all.The little sample bottles were hella small, and each bottle did 2 loads for me. I even added the last little bit with water into another load with my boring ass normal soap and it came out smelling almost just as good as a full amount!!!!TRY THIS STUFF. It literally changed the game for me.I've even added one pump to a small 6 oz or so glass spray bottle and warm water and used it as a fabric refresher for my house, spraying it on curtains, couches, and some high traffic carpeted areas and it's so unique, subtle and yummy, no need for anything else. It's like febreeze with balls. Buy it.

Smells so good!
I've been using this to do my husband's laundry for 3 years now, and I love it. It's important to note that it's concentrated, and you only use like 10% (probably less) of the volume you do with a normal detergent. As such, one bottle lasts about a year for me. We tend to like "aqua" type fragrances, and this is definitely that lighter male fragrance. The cedar variety is much more traditional/heavy.
