Great fly rod for trophy pike/musky
I'm planning on fishing the Boundary Waters for trophy pike this summer so I got the 10/11wt rod. I have quite a few nicer rods that could work but I wanted a cheap one that I could abuse and not worry about breaking a few guides on while I'm packing it in to different lakes and rivers. Overall, the quality is really nice. It's pretty lightweight, performs decent, and has a nice action. Even though it says it is a 10wt, it feels closer to an 11. If you're thinking of targeting big pike, musky, or salt water fish but don't want to drop $400-600 on an Echo or Sage, etc, I'd definitely recommend this one.

Good value, no complaints
Great rod, haven't tested it so far but I am excited to try it. if you do order fishing rods from amazon above 6ft, just know shipping doesn't always go right first time, but on second try I got the rod undamaged.

Not so Fast, but not too Bad
Just got back from my first outing with the SLV 6wt rod. It is an attractive grey color. Craftsmanship appears to be pretty good. Cork handle is better than I expected. Reel seat looks nice. Stripping and snake guide are perhaps a little better than expected for a rod of this price.Performance is pretty good. The fish here on the Snake River are fat and strong. I landed several 18" (ish) Rainbows on the rod. I'd rate the sensitivity as 8/10.For landing power: the SLV was able to turn fish away from rocks pretty consistently. For casting: when the morning was calm the rod really did well on close casts, perhaps out to 35-40 ft. A nice, clean presentation was no problem. When the wind picked up a bit I started to think that I'd have preferred a little stiffer mid in the rod. As the breeze built, I became a little less impressed with the rod's power, feeling that rigidity was lacking in the middle and base, especially for longer casts.Bottom line: I'd buy the rod again. For the money I think it is a fine rod, solidly intermediate. I firmly disagree with the description of the rod as "moderate-fast." There is no "fast" in this rod.

Returned
I bought this for my husband because of the price point but unfortunately the rod was lightweight, but not sturdy and the reel would jam often. Unfortunately, we ended up returning this. It was cheap, but the price was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

Seemed like a nice pole then - SNAP! - Updated since replacement came in
SLV-8-96-4 - When I got the pole, it seemed great, very nice quality looking and felt good. On the second say of use, the top section snapped right above the connection point. Amazon is taking care of it no problem and 'take two' is on the way. It snapped during overhand casting, no snagged lines just felt the nice load on the 8wt line then fail.I did really like the pole up to the point of failing. In talking to my local Fly Shop they mentioned if any of the connections were lose at all it can cause even the best quality rods to snap. With that being said, I look forward to trying out the next rod.Update - I have been using the replacement for Steelhead on the Feather River, so far so good, sure it does not case like my 6wt TFO but this is an 8wt and does fine. Right now the Feather is loaded with Salmon of which this pole landed 2 in the 20lb range, no problem and nice flex helped protect the 2x-3x tippet. For the $, hard to beat, you can spend twice this much for a lifetime guarantee pole, but if this thing makes it a year, we should be good for many after that.

Great fly fishing rod
I absolutely love this 5wt rod, it has nice action that’s comparable to my sage rod with perfect balance, easy cast ability, and a nice look as well as weight
