An okay start
You know, I’m a fan of the supernatural. I’m of the mind that anything can (and probably does) exist…even if it’s not in the way we think. Angels, demons and offspring of the two. I’ve always been fascinated with the possibility of such things, though I haven’t read many books with that premise. My latest read, Thrall (Daughters of Lilith #1) tackles the subject in an entertaining, if not familiar way.So, Thrall has us following Braedyn, a young woman who after her 16th birthday, discovers that she is a Lilitu, a demon that feeds off the soul or life force of others (in other words, a succubus). Now, as I said before, I haven’t read many stories revolving around a character that is a succubus, but I did enjoy Quintenz’s take on the supernatural creatures. Whenever dealing with supernatural creatures such as demons and angels, there is a risk that the story will become bogged down by the religious background of these creatures. Thankfully, that’s not the case for Thrall. Quintenz focuses on characters, rather than the religious hogwash a lot of supernatural stories have. Though, that’s not to say it isn’t there, because it is; it’s just plays second fiddle to character drama and the threat of the coming war.Speaking of character drama, there’s a lot of it in this book. Braedyn learns she’s a demon, which puts her at odds with members of the team of hunters that, well hunt and kill Lilitu, most of whom have lost a loved one to Lilitu. You can guess how having one on your team would go over with them. Not only that, but since our mc is in high school, we get a healthy dose of realistic high school drama, including jealousy, backstabbing and love. All of this was believable and took me back a few years to when I was in high school and every little thing seemed like the end of the world. Though, I’ll admit I never had to worry about an ancient war between the Daughter of Lilith and the Sons of Adam.Thrall manages to skirt the line between cliché and unpredictable. It kept me interested with its clever approach to demons and the angel-backed hunters that are up against them, as well as the turmoil our mc faces when she tries to come to terms with what she is, and what that means to those she loves and the world as a whole. I think that one of the areas Thrall falls flat, however, is the romance between our mc and her love interest, Lucas. I just couldn’t get behind it; it felt a bit rushed and unearned. All in all though, this was a quick and enjoyable read. I’ll be picking the next one in the series to see where things go from here, because things are set in motion near the tail end of the book that piqued my interest. Plus, I’m hoping the side characters get some time to shine since they weren’t really that memorable.

Lilith is ready to walk the earth again, will she or will she be stopped. Because if she breaks loose... who gets blamed.
Having read all 4 books I write this review, it covers all.{{{{***SPOILER ALERT***}}}} I hope to not spoil it so you dismiss the series but actually grab it to read. A teen finds out she isn't who or what she thinks she is, Her Loving father, not her real Dad?? Then suddenly she find there is an entire faction that want her dead, and yea keep up those High School grades and drama... A boyfriend That HATES her kind, yet loves her? The Cheerleader Drama queen who becomes a ally and then enemy then ally again? Add in supernatural demons and military type force determine to deal with her or kill her. The trust of an Angel, and the soul of a small child . Top it with another just like her that was the first trial of the experiment her 'Dad' has raised her under who tries to get her out, but keeps helping her when needed. When the demons can be trusted more then the humans then something is wacky, or is the human a demon in control of a human mind? The 4 books work and flow well between them and I would love the author to consider coming back in a 5 year gap to pick it up and carry on the story for both the small child's view of who family is, how has the leadership change effected the war they are fighting, does love prevail?Jennifer Quintez writes a series you don't stop and review book one and then think about reading book 2 someday, no you get back online and grab it as soon as you finish.. take my word for it save yourself the longon at 3 am and just buy them all now..

Excellent!!!
Now I have to say I loved this book. Normally the demon is the bad guy. And while this doesn’t change in this book the demon is still the bad guy, but there is a unique twist one demon is good.I’ve always loved stories of Demons and add in the story of Lilith who I actually know the original story of was such a great aspect of this story. Lilith is a fabulous twist in this book, and while there are many stories about Lilith this one was totally unique. Because Lillith isn’t the main issue, nor is she really overly important in the book but she is always there like a dark shadow. Her offspring Lilitu are just awful. The main characters were well written and believable. I totally love Braedyn and her friends and add in Lucas and it was the perfect mix. This story is a wonderful story about the love of family and friends. And how just because you are born one thing (a demon) doesn’t mean that you are one. Braedyn is a loving, caring friend and a fabulous daughter. This story also has a good moral lesson about loyalty to family and friends and commitment to being a responsible person. You’ll have to read it to understand what I am saying here but trust me you will understand by the end of book 1.I have to say that the book has a very strong and fabulous father in it. He knows what Braedyn is, but regardless of her being a demon spawn, he loves her unconditionally. He never loses faith in her as his daughter and he raised her with love and commitment. He isn’t just a father, he is a daddy through and through.I just cannot say enough about this book, but I don’t want to risk giving away too much. Suffice it to say that I finished this book, immediately started book 2 and stayed up until 2 in the morning reading these stories. As I finished book 2 I wanted to scream out in agony of having to wait for the next instalment in this fabulous new series from the very talented Jennifer Quintenz. I HIGHLY recommend this series to any YA/NA oh heck I recommend it to EVERYONE!!!! I even passed it on to my son who I hope will like it as much as I did.The only problem I had, was now I have to wait for book 3… I am not known for my patience. But alas I will have to wait and grab it the day it comes out.Details/Disclaimer: Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

"Thrall" by Jennifer Quintenz
The succubus fangirl in me is going happy-go-lucky. A coming of age story for a succubus, one of my favorite supernatural creatures of all time? Yes please! And amazingly enough this book does not disappoint. I meant to savour it, to draw out the pages and enjoy for as long as I could. Instead I tore through it in two sittings without being able to put it down.Every once in a while I really want to buy the books that are self-published, first time novels, yet to reach the shelves in your local bookstore. I like the idea of supporting aspiring authors in their way to writers heaven. But sadly sometimes those shiny new books are rushed to the printing press before they are ready. This is not one of those books. Ignore the blurb, it makes it sound so much more teen-y than it is.I would like to draw your attention to the cover. It is a good cover but there are others like it. I thought it was nice enough when I bought the book but it should not be that special. But when you hit the exact scene in the book from which the cover is, it blows you away. Suddenly the girl looks magical, having that Cinderella effect and everything. For a first time author, Jennifer Quintenz, I salute you. I truly hope that you are going places (hopefully places where one writes many many books). The writing style is so smooth, yet gripping. Add some good characters, well-paced story and you have something that I like. No, not like. Love.As I mentioned before I loves succubus stories. In this case named after Lilith and called Lilitu. And there really has not been a story which gives us first-hand insight into what it feels like to become one of the seductive demonesses. This story was paced perfectly, being very exciting and yet easing you into it when needed. I do not want to spoil because everyone deserves the awe of this book. I will drop the ditbit that I think it is wonderful that the part of mythology where succubi visit men in their dreams is not left out. And that they are, in fact, demons.Braedyn is a sweet girl, easy to identify with. But as she progresses and grows into being a Lilitu while still being part of the Guard is amazing. She is not written as too perfect, she makes mistakes, stumbles and that's what makes her loveable. Plus while she is the "loner", she is not a whiny character, which is not easy to write. Lucas is the male interest in this book, he has solid reason for doing what he does and he stays true to why he became part of the Guard. It’s what makes him a good character. Definitely not your typical, shallowly written lover boy. But my favorites are Braedyns father and Thane. It is so lovely to have such deep side characters. Their stories were just as compelling as Breadyns. As you can tell I am over the moon with this book and will be ordering the second book as soon as I have money for it. (which has to be after Christmas. Really, who thought gift-giving was more fun than receiving them. But sadly so much more expensive). So no surprise that “Thrall” gets full five stars and the highest recommendations I can give.---The review is also on my blog:[...]

Fantastic, Action Packed, 5 Star book!
I got this book on May 31st off amazon because it was free at the time. I was instantly pulled to the cover, oo that looks interesting I thought, I must admit though I didn't even read the blurb, the top review on amazon was someone saying something about succubus, (I love Lost Girl so I thought why not!) I also got 5 other freebies with it, yesterday I needed a book to take my mind of some stuff, I knew exactly that this would be the one I wanted to get stuck in to and boy was this the one for the job!I read this book yesterday in one sitting, only stopping because I HAD to make dinner.I thought the storyline was great, it was very fast moving and full of action, upon first reading I kinda felt like this book was everything that the Mortal Instruments film had tried to be, it was good, so soo good. I loved the characters, her best friends Cassie and Royal. I loved the sweet relationship between Braedyn and Lucas, I would of liked to have seen her more mad at Murphy when she found out his secret but otherwise I thought this book was perfect in every way. The storyline flowed effortlessly, Jennifer has such a great writing talent, as soon as I finished this book I brought book 2 right away I just had to finish, I even made two of my friends go and get the book after I had finished this book as well hahaAll in all 5 our of 5 stars, and I can't wait to finish the series

Lowed It - now want more!! Suitable for young teens.
Enjoyed the first book so much, I downloaded and read the next two! With so many paranormal young adult books on the market, you know that it is quite something to find one which isn't all about sex. And trust me I totally understand the irony there when you are talking about a series which is about a coming of age story for a succubus. I mean surely succubus' are all about sex??!!Well no, Jennifer Quintenz has taken the story and added lovely twists and turns which relate more to how teenagers manage their relationships, handle scenarios which are not black or white, their families and their loyalties.Perhaps the best thing about this book is that I feel it could be read by my 14 year old, without being to risqué.So congratulations to the author for writing a book with a strong female lead as well as keeping this adult interested in the material.

Makes you want more...
I came to this book by accident; I found it on one of those website that point you towards free e-books of the day. It sounded interesting enough and I have to say that I wasn't disappointed at all. I really loved the story, the characters and the writing. OK, so at times I was thinking that some of the vocabulary was mighty heavy for a teenager but it didn't make it feel less real. The best recommendation I can give? After reading the freebie first volume, I went to buy the second and third volume and am still enjoying them as much as the first.Give it a shot - I bet you won't be disappointed.
