Works well, good value
I bought this to mount a Logitech C920 webcam on my monitor. Normally, the webcam would sit on the top of the monitor and stay in place with its rubberised foot; but it can't, because its home has been taken over by a monitor light whose balance is so delicate (and profile so rounded) that no webcam may find a place to rest thereupon. So instead, this arm attaches to the top of the monitor stand upright, and allows the webcam to peep over the top of the monitor light. Hello. It was slightly smaller than expected, but just long enough to suit its purpose, with enough adjustment to allow the webcam to gaze at me head on and centered. I'd not heard of SmallRig before, but they appear to have a good reputation for quality and reliability, and my experience does nothing to contradict that.

A Rock-Solid, Versatile Mounting Solution for Small-Medium Items
I recently got my hands on the SmallRig Magic Arm, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its build quality and versatility. The all-metal construction feels premium, with the black aluminum body and silver accents giving it a professional look. What really stands out is the robust locking mechanism - just one turn of the center wingnut allows you to adjust both ball joints simultaneously, and when tightened, it holds position rock solid. The super clamp is equally well-designed, featuring rubber padding to protect surfaces and an impressive grip range of 15-40mm. I particularly appreciate the dual 1/4" and 3/8" thread options, making it compatible with virtually any camera accessory. The 1.5kg payload capacity has been more than sufficient for mounting my monitors, lights, and microphones, though it's important to note this limit if you're planning to use heavier equipment. Most importantly, it's easy to use. One thing that sets this magic arm apart is its thoughtful design details. The knurled surfaces on the wingnut provide excellent grip, and the ball joints move smoothly when loosened but lock firmly in place when tightened. While the price might be higher than some alternatives, the build quality and reliability make it a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about their camera setup. After using it for a while, I can say SmallRig has maintained their reputation for quality with this product. Note: the lighting box is a separate product.

Great, lightweight and strong
These small rig arms are great. The hot shoe adaptor can come off to expose a standard camera tripod thread. The clamp grips super tight, it’s really easy to use and feels very well made. They hold a decent amount of weight and are super versatile to have in the bag. Great value for money. I’d choose this over a manfrotto arm for anything not super super heavy duty.

Essential Piece Of Filmmaking Kit!
One of my favorite pieces of useful gear! I've used it for many creative POV shots clamping remotes, drinks, lights, phones you name it! The clap is study and plenty strong. The magic arm itself is just long enough to get some unique perspectives and be useful for general use! I've also used it to mount and clamp onto different surfaces like tables, doors, poles and lights and it can be attached pretty easily via the 1/4" thread or the hotshot attachment which can be taken on or off. Overall solid piece of kit.

Brilliant product 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend. I will definitely buy again
This is a brilliant, great creative product, excellent good quality and would definitely recommend and would buy another one. Are used to attach a second camera to the same tripod for live streaming an event and it held up well. You can also use it for more creative shots, attaching it to things so the camera movement will be unique.. The clamp is very strong and attached very well to my tripod. Don’t have anything bad to say about it for metal build, and it seems like it will last a long time, but only time will tell

Really is a must have for all creators.
All the reviews and all the shorts and reels advertising this product as a must have are correct. I use it all the time not just for the adjustable nature of it. I can get lights and my camera in some very precise position that I couldn't be able to with other arms.

Good value for a well made accessory
I have bought cheaper arms but this one from Smallrig is much more refined. The controls are smooth and overall it feels like a higher quality product at a lower price.

Mostly excellent but with issues
EDIT: The nut for the tightening screw stripped out. It's a fine aluminium thread, no wonder. It’s a good quality magic arm, locks tight and adjusts freely. But the cold-shoe mounting is poorly designed. To get it to hold securely you have to take pliers to the locking ring, otherwise it doesn’t hold tightly and can fall out. To add the cold shoe mount they’ve taken a regular magic arm, screwed in a [locking ring] to {barrel} to {locking ring}. That final locking ring is the weak point. Other mfrs have used locking rings with a lobe for more leverage, but this is just ‘knurled’ and can’t be tightened sufficiently by hand. The super clamp is as good as any other.

The quality of the parts are exceptional, best of the best; materials, finish, no rough edges, precision pieces. The design/engineering is also exceptional, lots of thought put into it. The only area that was a bit disappointing was what seems to be the assembly quality, where the arm I received, when fully open, does not line up straight, and when closed, the arms do not wind up in parallel, apparently because the permanently inserted toothed section in the arms were not indexed correctly. This is not a big issue really, it just took away from what this being a high-end top-quality product. Functionally, this is fantastic, the quality and feel is exceptional, it is very easy to adjust (using the simple trick of tightening the lock partly to lock the arms relative to one another, leaving both the rotating/swivel ends of the arms still unlocked to adjust them next, then fully lock it), and has been thought out to allow pretty much any position that some other similar devices would prevent. Even the lock (the rotating wing-nut) has tiny ball-bearings in it for a great feel and ideal operation, and I don't mean for rotation but rather in line with the pressure that turning the handle/screw creates, allowing you to adjust the pressure it applies without feeling any friction from that pressure (i.e. most clamps like this, when you turn them real tight, they grab and jerk/stutter when real tight, and are often stuck when you try and undo a really tight one, but not this one, you can smoothly adjust it right up to real tight and it never grabs and undoes smoothly). They even took pretty good care to not get oil onto surfaces you might touch, though it is still possible to contact those surfaces during use, and I'd have preferred less or no oil. There was confusion about the clamp opening capacity, with different/conflicting measurements provided in the Amazon product info - the clamp can fully open to 53mm as I measured it. It grips and clamps really well onto anything from a round pole, to the square edge of a desk or shelving unit side. I'd highly recommend these, though I also noticed a drastic price increase in mid 2023, so that has made me pause and I'm looking at other brand products, but of course prices can change anytime so go by what it is worth to you.

These Magic Arms are the most useful tool for lights, cameras, and even battery packs. The hot shoe end can be removed and you can connect anything that has 3/8" thread. It is lightweight and doesn't weigh down your camera bag too much. I wish there were some of these that were about 16-20 inches available too. Definitely a great value for any bogger/content creator.

Solved my use case exactly as I had hoped for. It is surprisingly strong and doesn't sag over time.
