I didn't realize it, but these are just an empty shell. I'm sure that's on me for not reading the description fully. That said, you'll need to put the circuit board, chip and key (if you have it you can save 50 bucks getting this one cut) from the original to make it work. Once you've done that, they work like a charm.

The 1 star is only because it doesnt fit the key for the 2008 Jetta. Unfortunately the metal key/key blank is a different thickness than the OEM parts. This impacts the ability for the key to operate when you push the button to extract the key from the fob. The emergency button doesnt line up properly with the OEM impacting that capability.

Worked great, but you'll need to move your transponder pellet from the old one. Range on remote wasn't as good as the original, but it works up close.

Love this replacement. I saved over $ 300 ordering this fob.

Works well. No problem moving the circuit board over to the new case. Dimensions of the new case are just a hair bigger than the original. I found that out by trying to fit the old half and new together. A bit tricky moving the immobilizer chip from the old to new case. I figured out that the new case has a slot that lets you install the chip without opening the key side of the remote case. I opened that side because I moved the old cut key into the new case and had to fight with the spring. You can put a drop of glue or sealant on the immobilizer chip to keep it from falling out of the slot, or you can do what I did and use a toothpick or something small to wedge it in place. Overall a great purchase for my 18 year old car.

Shell fit the contents of my old key perfectly. Now I have what appears to be a brand new key!
