I originally purchased these on another site in packages of two or four. When I located the bowl of 36 sticks here on Amazon I was very pleased. The sticks come packaged in sealed bags of nine sticks per bag. So, there are four bags contained in each bulk box. For my household, the expiration date is a non-issue.I'm posting photos of the individual bags and the oxygen absorber pack in each bag. Happy Howie's is not only Made In USA but a favorite in my home. No abdominal discomfort (gas), no loose stools and an easy training tool.Be aware that the sticks are hard - so cutting them into pieces will need some thought about the tools at your disposal and your own cutting ability.

I do not know who Howie is or why he is happy. I know my dogs and I are not. I purchased these treats to my dogs a change of pace.The package I received did not appear to have been opened previously or damaged. These sausages could not have been harder. I used the same knife that I have used on the Top Chews Pork and Chicken Sausages, and I could not cut it. I tried to break one of the sausages by hand and it would not break. I am not giving these to my dogs and I will not even give them to a neighbors dog. I imagine that the only way that these sausages could be chewed is if I set them in a pan of hot wat for a long time.I will go back to purchasing the Top Chews that my dogs like.I will NOT recommend these to anyone. I am a senior on a limited income and do not appreciate your sales tactics or return policy.

A little expensive but my dog loves them. They smell good and the quality is good.

UPDATE: I called the company and a representative actually called me back! She explained that this particular product is for chewers, not for training. In other words, the description on the product is simply not useful at all. There ARE soft products that can be cut into small pieces for training. The company is sending me a free sample. I still threw this away because it was simply too hard to chew. But we'll see when the sample product gets here. One thing for sure: this company knows what customer service is all about!! ORIGINAL review: This is the SECOND Happy Howie's I bought that was ROCK HARD! No way to cut into small training pieces with a knife or scissors! "Best by" date is just fine. No way I'll be buying more of this brand - both packages had to go in the trash since they aren't returnable. Can't get a refund, either.
