Are the colors for different ages ?

I don't believe so- just color for show.

Are these made of tempered glass or will they create glass shards if accidentally dropped/broken?

They haven’t broken in the four months I’ve had them. The material doesn’t seem like glass, but more like a strong plastic. I hope that’s helpful.

I found them to be just ok…. They are nice after cutting baby nails to help soften edges but would be a pain to do much more

These worked great to file down my newborns nails. I was afraid to us the clippers so I bought these oysters. I feel like compared to the disposable baby Emory boards these are better. They file but the grit isn’t too much! I like how it comes with 3 i keep one in the diaper bag, another in her nursery, and the last on her diaper cart in the living room.
